I was in the Marines at the end of the Vietnam War, spent four years in and then the next 25 in the National Guards. Never seen combat but have been close. I have also lost many frinds in Iraq and my heart goes out to your family. I have a son who is in the Army, he is heading for Iraq for a second time. The fear is there that one day I may face the same sitiuation as your family has. I continue to look to the Lord for strenght and pray that he protects all our soldiers in Iraq. What a wonderful soul that would take the time to share at so tender a time. Much Respect and Gratitude to all who have made this tribute come to life! Name: Richard Greene Location: Seattle, WA Comments: To The Warns Family, I have to admit, I am a Marine that will not let myself forget. I will not Forget the pain I personally suffered over the past many years. I will not Forget the pain I feel every day I hear from one news source or another about another Marine passing. And Warns Family I will not Forget your Marine. I make a point to view the video of Bobby's Memorial often. You see, I don't want to forget. But the point of this message is this; I had another opportunity to show the video to another Marine this evening. We were shooting the breeze about this and that and I asked if he had seen or heard of your Son. I brought him over to my desk and he was humbled. Bobby's video will be played on one of our 4' X 6' flat screens out in the (F-22 Fighter) shop tomorrow. We all wear Red on Friday's to show support for The Troops. I will share what I've learned on this site with the Factory Workers. Mr. and Mrs. Warns,,,, I will not forget. God Bless. Richard Greene Cpl USMC Disabled Vet Name: ian duncan Location: Sydney Australia Comments: I was deeply moved by the tragedy of this event. It was compelling viewing that does show the ultimate sacrifice and the deep sadness that resides with the living. Moreover it shows Bobby as just an average man called upon to do his duty and in so serving his country he paid the greatest of prices. It is a video I showed my students so that they could understand the reality of war, there arent any winners. Sometimes students live in an insulated world but this video brought home the reality of the war in Iraq, yes people die, just ordinary everyday people. Its a wonderful tribute. Name: Bridggette Fink Location: Oxford ma Comments: Thank you. God bless. He gave all. Name: Ian Location: UK Comments: In a world where life is tough, and some take advantage of what is put in front of them, your son gave his life for what he believed in. I saw service in Afghanistan and the gulf in 90/91, I have seen the face of war and those who have fought it. I have watched your video from time to time, when I am on a low and high, each time it makes me grateful for my life, but reflective of the sacrifice you and others have been through and continue to go through. To me your son died a hero, bless to you and Roberts daughter, she will walk tall in later life, for her farther IS Bobby Warns Name: Dave Bryan Location: Humble, Texas (Houston area) Comments: The video is an incredible tribute to one of our nation's true heroes. I have cried more than once watching it. It has been a source of inspiration for me in a grand idea to support our military families in need. I am a friend of Todd Clegg who I believe Mrs. Warns has spoken to in the past concerning the patriotic salutes to our military that he has produced. I am currently working on a foundation to assist our military and their families in need. Our organization, America's Heroes First Foundation, seeks to honor those who serve in a visable way by supporting financially our nation's military families. We are working with John Alexander of the Navy-Marine Relief Society and other worthy military family charities to launch what we think will be the largest groundswell of financial support in our nation's history. Todd Clegg is doing the website. It is a unique idea that we think can raise $125,000,000 per month in support. We have been working to put this together for over 18 months. We feel we may be able to launch within the next 60-90 days. My heart felt best wishes for all of you in the future. In the larger scope of things, it will only be a short time before all of you can be together with Bobby. Keep doing God's work until you meet again. Warmest regards, Dave Bryan Name: Capt. David W. Trevino, USMCR (Ret) Location: Taylors, SC Comments: I am so sorry for your loss. The media in this country focuses a lot of attention on the equipment our armed forces use in the field. I’ve read miles of column inches and seen hours of stuff on television about stealth aircraft, laser guided munitions, armored vehicles, and the like. It’s easy to get the impression that our advantage in technology is what wins battles for us. Nothing could be more wrong. The strength of this country is not in guided missiles, but in guided men, men like Bobby. These men are not assembled in munitions plants or manufactured at Parris Island. They come from places like Waukesha. They’re raised by families like yours, educated in your schools, inspired in your churches, and molded by the way you choose to live your lives. Casualty telegrams from the Commandant always say the dead Marine gave his life for “his country.” That country is not the song we stand for at ball games, or the colored cloth that drapes the casket. That country is not the city of marble monuments on the Potomac, or the politics of the day. That country is the place where you and I live. I know the tragedy of Bobby’s death did not end with the folding of the flag at his funeral, and there’s nothing I can say to diminish the pain you still feel, but I wanted you to know that it’s because of him and those like him that I am proud to call this country home. Sincerely, David W. Trevino Name: sgt hector angulo Location: laguna niguel, ca Comments: it was a really nice video, im sorry about your son and the family that he left behind. i myself am a marine with a 3 yr old daughter to leave for iraq in a month. i would like to ask your family for your prayers not just for me but for my marines as well. thank you and for your sons sacrifice. The men and women who fight and defend our nation, both in and out of uniform, make me so proud it is difficult to put in words. We would be in tremendous jeopardy if it were not for them. My prayers go to Bobby, who is looking down upon us, and his Family. So much sacrifice given. Thank you for the service you have given this Nation. Bless you all. Name: KEVIN KRAUT (USMC 1978-1989) Location: MINNEAPOLIS, MN Comments: Warns Family & Bobby: I don't know what I can say that hasn't already been said. I know this started off as a tribute specifically to Bobby, but I think it's much, much more. It's grown to become a tribute to all of our fallen defenders and freedom-fighters, specifically in our recent conflicts, and even more specifically for Marines. Most people know someone that has been over to the Mideast, or is over there, or will be going, but not so many people know someone that has given their greatest sacrifice over there. These people feel lonely, helpless, betrayed by God or the government, powerless, etc., and when they hit upon Bobby's site, their feelings for these fallen heroes come out on Bobby's site. Bobby and his site have become an icon. Thank you, Bobby, for your sacrifice. Thank you, Warns Family, for taking this special step to recognize the sacrifice and give people the oppotunity to thank all of our heroes through Bobby. Cpl. Warns, I salute you. You have had a bigger impact on the world than anyone will ever know. Warns Family, don't ever let it be said that Bobby died in vain. He gave up his physical presence for all the right reasons, but he surely is not dead. He will always be in your lives. Bobby, Semper Fi, little brother. I'm 27 and was a professional sailor and sailed round the world when I was 20.I was due to join a private yacht/superyacht in 2001 but disaster struck in the 2nd week of May 2001 when I slipped on the stairs at home.I was eventually diagnosed with reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy which has left me in a wheelchair unable to stand or walk at all.
I stood by your bed last night I whispered to you softly I was close to you at breakfast I was with you at the shops today I was with you at my grave today I walked with you towards the house You looked so very tired It’s possible for me to be so near you You sat there very quietly The day is over…. Name: Lcpl Feehan, David R Location: MCB Camp Lejeune Comments: God Bless and Semper Fi Name: Meredith Location: Pennsylvania Comments: My beloved Marine is LCpl Jason Frye, who is standing on post with your Bobby. Jason was killed in October 2005, when we were both 19 years old. We are both very Faithful. Jason was teased for dating a Catholic girl, since he's Lutheran, but I may have married him anyways. Since his death I've maintained a website for people to learn about him (www.jasonfryeusmc.blogspot.com) and see pictures of his smiling face. I want Americans to learn the names and stories of our Marines so that they can better appreciate what has been done for them. I came across Bobby's tribute by chance, and I pray that every day the same happens to someone else. Thank you for your willingness to share your son, and thank you - most importantly - for your courage, honor, and committment. I will serve my country in the future, hopefully as a Marine Corps officer. I will never forget Bobby's story, and someday I hope to consider him a brother Marine. He warned me that it was incredibly sad, and he had cried himself when he watched it.He added that it was powerfully inspirational and that I needed to watch it. I believe his exact words were "it will make you feel something real." He could not have said it better. I am soaked in tears as I write this. I go through my days in almost a robotic manner. Go to work, go to class, go to sleep, rarely giving thought to anything that does not directly affect the mechanics of my day. I appreciate you sharing this video with the world. I've spent endless hours studying the history of our nation and the men and women who have fought for it. However, I have never truly recognized the bravery and appreciated the sacrafices of these men and women until watching your video of Bobby. Those 6 minutes have brought a realness to the text in history books. My brother just finished spending a summer in Quantico and recently became a U.S. Marines Officer. I am incredibly proud of him and admire the scarifice made by the women and men fighting for our country. USMC Recruit Name: Jennie Location: St. Louis, MO Comments: Dear Mr. and Mrs. Warns - I am sure that you don't remember me, but I graduated from St. Joe's and Catholic Memorial with Bobby. We actually went to TWIRP together out freshmen year. I now live in St. Louis and my parents forwarded me the picture of your granddaughter that was in the paper. How she looks like Bobby! Amazing. I was recently flipping through old pictures and there was one of 8th grade graduation where Bobby and I are standing next to each other because we were in the "short front row." I remember he kidding saying that we were in the front because we were the best looking. Anyway, Bobby became tall, and I am still in the "short row." I thought you would like that picture, so please let me know if it would be alright to send it. I think I have one from TWIRP too. There isn't much that I can say that hasn't already been said, except that Bobby was and still is very much loved. Always loved, never forgotten. Jennie Roberts P.S. - The pictures are beautiful! Name: Virginia Holley Location: Arlington TX Comments: I can't even remember how I stumbled on this website but I'm glad I did. I'm sitting here at 3 in the morning crying my eyes out. This tribute to Cpl. Robert P. Warns II is so touching. I am so very sorry for your loss but Bobby's spirit will live forever through his daughter. As a Navy wife I am very thankful for his service. If it wasn't for brave soldiers like Bobby there would be no freedom. God bless you all. Congrats on the beautiful baby. Name: Lance Corporal Matthew Hutchison Location: Iraq Comments: To the Warns Family, Currently I am serving in Iraq with 2nd Marine Division RCT-8. My job is a Combat Photographer and videographer. I was introduced to the website and video of your son and husband shortly before leaving. It truly brought tears to my eyes. The video has touched my heart and soul. It brought to a new found understanding for my deployment. My only wish and will is to do my job to bring our sons, daughters, husbands, and wives home. As you know your son is guarding the gates of heaven. His unselfish act truly has given me the courage and strength to get up every day to do my job as a Marine. I myself am expecting a healthy baby come September, but will not be able to see him be born. I pray and hope for my safe return to be able to watch him grow and become a handsome young man. My prayers and thoughts are truly with Cpl Warns each and every day. My blessing and prayers go out to you. Marines not only take care of each other, but their families as well. It is our tradition. It is our honor. Thank you for all that you have given to all of us. Name: Brady Stephenson Location: Helotes, TX Comments: Thank you for the poignant reminder that when we hear on the news that men of our armed forces were killed in the war on terror that they are not just nameless members of the military but friends, husbands, sons, and fathers. They are men who lived and loved and cared enough to lay down their lives for the safety of our nation and for the future of people in foreign nations who may never know their names but who will none-the-less be blessed by their sacrifice. I shed tears at the end of the video knowing that I would not meet Bobby in this life and have the opportunity to thank him for his commitment to duty, his honor, and his sacrifice. I asked in silent prayer that God would, indeed, hold Bobby in the palm of His hand and rain down His love and grace upon him until we who are left behind to carry on are able to join him and thank him personally. Please share my thanks with his parents for raising such a fine man as their son. Name: Crissy Frickson Location: South Bend, Indiana Comments: Thank you, I'm not sure whatelse to say. The tribute touched my heart and hit very close to home. Due to some loved ones of my own that have/had served our great country. My father was in Vietnam in the Army and he was apart of the 101st Airborne Screaming Eagles where he lead patrols during the war, my best friend has a younger brother who is presently in the Marines, and my boyfriend is a Marine who was a sniper in the Middle East. I want to say thank you to your son Bobby for keeping this great nation safe from harms way. It is because of your son that this countrys' freedoms are still intact. There aren't enough words to say that could express the honor and priviledge that I am feeling for your son as well as your family. May God bless you and keep you in his loving arms. We need to remember what families go through because of your sons desire to protect us all. Today I looked at it and saw the beautiful little girl that proudly has his name. Also today in my town of Marseilles they put your sons name on the Freedom Wall. This is a monument to honor anyone killed in the conflict over there. There were lots of names added to the wall today just in time for a freedom run that is this Saturday. All the proceeds from the day go to aid in adding more names to the wall. I really hate to see more names added because I know for each name there is a family just like yours that has lost a loved one. The site of the wall is very pretty along the river and very peaceful. I will always look for your sons name each time I visit the wall. We don't know each other but I feel a part of your sorrow because of the beautiful video that you shared will all of us. Angry, at the war and the president for keeping our troops over in Iraq, Bobby, i was even mad at god himself for allowing you to pass. But afterwards, I felt a great joy from you strengthining your religion over in Iraq, joy that your new baby daughter would be healthy and in good care, and finally that you would watch over all of us from heaven and protect us from the Evils of Al-Queida. A rifle platoon is only a life support system for their weapons attachments and Robert and his team were worth their weight in gold. They patrolled a stretch of road about, 7 miles long, providing machine gun support for the squad with them. They screened the road for road side bombs, conducted raids, assisted with convoy security and counter ambush patrols. Robert and his team went out on patrol without complaint.Going out on almost every patrol, as we needed machine gunners in the trucks. Their efforts saved lives and hurt our enemies. Our platoon was very grateful to have Robert and his team with us. The video you have produced is wonderful. Freedom is the legacy he leaves to his baby girl. The world she will grow up in will not treat her like a slave, she will have the opportunity to be what she determines herself to be, worshipping the way she desires, free to work where she wishes, and to associate with whom she wants to. She can vote and even be president of the nation of her birth. My children have inherited the same legacy thanks to Robert and those like him. Vainly the prophets of Baal would rend it, Vainly his worshippers pray for its fall; Thousands have died for it, millions defend it, Emblem of justice and mercy to all; Justice that reddens the sky with her terrors, Mercy that comes with her white-handed train, Soothing all passions, redeeming all errors, Sheathing the sabre and breaking the chain. Borne on the deluge of all usurpations, Drifted our Ark o'er the desolate seas, Bearing the rainbow of hope to the nations, Torn from the storm-cloud and flung to the breeze! "He stands barefoot in the snow, starved from lack of food, wounded from months of battle and emotionally scarred for the eternity away from his family surrounded by nothing but death and carnage of war. He stands though, with fire in his eyes and victory on his breath. He looks at us now in anger and disgust and tells us this. … "I gave you a birthright of freedom born in the Constitution and now your children graduate too illiterate to read it. I fought in the snow barefoot to give you the freedom to vote and you stay at home because it rains. I left my family destitute to give you the freedom of speech, and you remain silent on critical issues, because it might be bad for business. I orphaned my children to give you a government to serve you and it has stolen democracy from the people. "It's the soldier, not the poet, who gives you the freedom of speech. "It's the soldier, not the campus organizer, who allows you to demonstrate. "It's the soldier, who salutes the flag, serves the flag, whose coffin is draped with the flag that allows the protester to burn the flag! "Lord, hold our troops in your loving hands. Protect them as they protect us. Bless them and their families for the selfless acts they perform for us in our time of need. I ask this in the name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior. Amen." Name: Keith Sefton Location: Washington, DC Comments: To the Warns Family: As I watched this video on Memorial Day, the thought of your loss and the honor you provided your loved one through this media was overhwelming. I have no doubt that when the next chapter is finally recorded in the hisotry of our Nation, your son and those who served with him will be known as the "Next Greatest Generation." They did not come from the poverty of the 30s into WWII, but from the plenty of the 70s, 80s and 90s, from parents like us, who tried (and often did) give them much more than they could have ever dreamed of -- yet they still stood prepared to sacrifice all in the name of service to their country. I, too, was a Marine -- for 31 years -- and while I never once thought of the impact such a career choice had on members of my family I do now -- since both my daughters are married to Marines, both of whom have now twice been to Iraq and Afghanistan. The long nights, the random thoughts of their welfare are now common to me as well. Their safe journey home was made possible by the sacrifices of those like Bobby, and we all said a prayer yesterday for those who did not return in the traditional sense. But seeing this, it's clear Bobby's return was all that circumstances permitted, yet something of strength...honor, courage and commitment were all present at his service -- as was sacrifice. Ever since hearing about the loss of one of Wisconsins' own, I have felt a connection though. I came across the video of Bobbys services quite a few months back. I come and view it often, and read the thoughtful messages people leave. I left one of my own back in January of February. My friend Jim who is a WWII Veteran and myself were able to attend services this morning, and visit Bobbys grave site. I had ordered memorial bracelets for Jim and I to wear and we did with pride. When I ordered them, I ordered 2 extra thinking I would possibly be able to give them to friends or family of Bobby should we happen to come across them at the services. Alas we did not. I put them next to the flowers on his grave with a card in hopes that someone will get them to Erin and Payton, or Bob and Bridget. Please know that this Memorial Day had more significance than ever before for me. I wish you all well, and please know that your Bobby will never be forgotten, and I will wear his name proudly on my wrist every Memorial Day. Sincerely, Diane Nadelhoffer --------------- Diane, I have the bracelets and will be wearing one at work today. Thanks so very much!! Bridget Warns Proud mom of Bobby

Cpl Robert P. Warns II, along with all of those who have paid the ultimate sacrifice are the answer. I sit in my office in silence...in the dark, and watch the video in tribute to Bobby. The video was sent to me from a friend who had been in the Corps at about the same time as me. When I had first watched it, I was moved, but not like today. This time it really hit home...very deep. The video had ended, and I sat in silence for quite some time. Long enough for the tears to dry. Everyone has gone home for the night. As for me? Name: Bob Location: Gainesville, Ga - Comments: When God created a United States Marine - When God created a United States Marine, it was into the sixth day of overtime. An angel appeared and said, "You're having a lot of trouble with this one. What's wrong with the standard model?" And the Lord replied, "Have you seen the spec's on this order? It has to be able to think independently, yet be able to take orders; have the qualities of both a military mind and a compassionate heart; be a leader of junior Marines and learn from seniors; run on black coffee; handle critical ops without a Military Procedure Manual; be able to manage a difficult subordinate, an irate supervisor and a demanding OIC; have the patience of a saint and six pairs of hands, not to mention the strength of three its size." The angel shook her head slowly and said, "Six pairs of hands - no way!" And the Lord answered, "Don't worry, we'll make other Marines to help. Besides, it's not the hands which are causing the problem. It's the heart. It must swell with pride when other Marines do well, sustain the incredible hardship of combat, beat on soundly when it's too tired to do so, and be strong enough to continue to carry on when he's given all he's had." "Lord," said the angel touching the Lord's sleeve gently, "Come to bed!" "I can't," said the Lord. "I'm so close to creating something unique. Already I have one who can complete a 26-mile forced march with full pack, handle a 9mm and an M16 with astounding accuracy, conduct land navigation in the dark, and operate field communications." The angel circled the model of the Marine very slowly. "It's too serious," she sighed. "But tough," said the Lord excitedly, "You cannot imagine what this Marine can do or endure." "Can it feel?" asked the angel. "Can it feel!" replied the Lord. "It loves the Corps and country like no other!" Finally the angel bent over and ran her finger across the Marine's cheek. "There's a leak," she pronounced. "I told you you're trying to put too much into this model." "That's not a leak," said the Lord. "That's a tear." "What's it for?" asked the angel. "It's for joy, sadness, disappointment, frustration, pain, loneliness and pride." "You're a genius!" exclaimed the angel. The Lord looked at her somberly and replied, "I didn't put it there."
