Comments: To Corpral Warns I owe my deepest debt of graditude. In his death there is life and freedom for others. His honor, courage, and valor will not be forgotten.

To Bobby's family:

Your son is an inspiration to me. I will soon be shipping out to Marine Corps bootcamp, and hearing stories of men like your son remind me of what I am fighting for. Your son's sacrifice has paved the way for me to carry on the fight. Soon the world will be free of terror, and generations from now people will see your video and shed a tear of thanks.

I think this verese is appropriate:

>From the book of Psalms, Chapter 118

The snares of death encompassed me;

I suffered distress and anguish.

Than I called the name of the Lord: "O Lord, I pray, deliver my soul!"

Return, O my soul, to your rest;

For you have done good in the name of the Lord.

For you have delivered my soul from death, my eyes from tears, my feet from stumbling; I shall walk with the Lord in heaven.

Comments: I just watched the beautiful tribute to your dear son. The pain I saw in your face was the pain I felt...and still feel...at the loss of my own son, LCpl Jourdan Lin Grez. Jourdan, too, was finishing his last year at college; he had a brand new baby boy; he had been only 69 days in theatre when his Amtrac was destroyed by an IED; he touched so very many lives in his short 24 years on earth. I weep daily for our loss, and for all other parents who have gone through this hell. These young men are my heroes and make me proud to call myself an American. If you have a chance, please visit my son's website at www.beatles4me.com/jourdangrez.htm There are two beautiful slide shows and a link to another website of photos. You can also log onto TogetherWeServed.com and read about him there. I wish you a holy and joy-filled Christmas. God Bless you and your family. Semper Fi.

Comments: Dear Family of Robert Warns II,

I am a 36 year old Desert Storm Marine Veteran and I was fwd'd your website last night from a friend of mine. I watched it today for the first time and cried like a child -- I'm pretty teared up right now in fact from just thinking about it and you. I often imagined (every day really) when I was in Kuwait what it would be like at my funeral if I didn't make it home and your video of your sons funeral is what I pictured. I was a lot like Bobby and your family is a lot like mine (I have one sister and we were a pretty tight knit family). I wish you strength and that God will help you all the way through your healing process (which I'm sure never really heals -- I'm a parent now and I can't imagine). Rest easy tonight because you will meet up with Bobby again, we all will and I can't wait to meet him, but for now he is busy guarding the streets of heaven.

God Bless you all and Semper Fidelis,

Rob Dix

I doubt she would remember me, but I wanted to extend my apoligees to your family for the loss of your son/brother. My brother Scott Johnson was in Bobby's class, and I don't know if they knew each other, but I will inform him of this web site, as I don't know if he is aware of what happened.

Your son/brother made the greatest sacrafice anyone could make, and for that you should be proud.

I hope the prayers of the people around this world will comfort your family and give you peace.

My name is Charles I served with Bobby when I was assigned to Co G. I cant even begin to express how sorry I'am that he is gone. I was assigned to another unit in August of 2003. But before that Bobby and I were close. I always remember him for his great Harry Caray impressions. I didnt hear about Bobby until about a few weeks ago, the requirements of the Marine Corps have had me away from home for some time. I have to admit something when I was with Bobby at Co G I promissed him that I would never let anything happen to him, I'm sorry I couldnt protect him and keep that promise. the world is a lesser place with out him here. if there is anything that I can do please let me know, I owe that to Bobby. God Bless and SEMPER FI

Words fail now, much as they did the day I, along with my Marine son, shared with you and Bobby at St Mary's.

As my family prayed through every day of my son's Iraq deployment, I often reflected on your loss, and the dignity and honor with which you bore it. I cannot begin to know the depths of your pain, but I felt the magnitude of your love.

Through this Christmas season I wish you only peace and comfort in knowing your son is watching over all of us now.

God Bless you and yours.

Mr. & Mrs Warns and family,

It has been a year since your beloved son gave his life in defense of this nation and the freedoms we cherish so much. I am sure the pain is still sharp for you. It is for me as well, even though I never had the honor and the privilege of knowing Bobby. I thank you for this website and the video, which is a painful and yet stirring reminder for all, that freedom is NOT free. It is bought and paid for by the sacrifices of men and women with incredible strength, valor and selflessness. Bobby is a shining example of this and you should be forever proud of all he was in this life and for all he did in the name of freedom.

I share your loss and pain now and always. May God bless you always with wonderful memories of your beloved son Bobby.

Sincerely,

I had to send another message to your family letting you know that in December of 2005 your son and your family are still being thought of. As a former Marine Sergeant and a current Lieutenant with the St Johns County Sheriff's Office with 18 years of service I know all to well about loss, but I also know of service, self sacrifice and pride. Your son was one like so many before him who felt that there were things bigger than himself and worth sacrificing for. So heres to us and those like us. Comments: I was doing random searches online for videos related to the United States Marine Corps when I came across Cpl. Robert Warns tribute. It moved me to tears watching it. Your family will always be in my prayers. Your loved one gave the greatest sacrifice to his country. I talked with a lot of Veterans, they all tell me the only true heroes are the ones that never made it home. Nothing I write here will ease your pain but I will never forget the sacrifices made by your loved one and all the others like him. I thank God that there are men and women willing to protect my freedom. If someday I earn the title of Marine myself, I will never do anything to dishonor the uniform your loved one and thousands like him wear everyday. I'm sure that he is watching over his beautiful daughter everyday. Thank you for making this video available online. God Bless and Semper Fi.

God must have special plans for him, and has now taken him into his loving arms. He is watching his little girl Payton try to walk and crawl and Im sure hes listening for the word 'dada' to come out. AS I prepare to send my husband back to Iraq I can only pray that all the fallen soldiers will be watching over him and the rest of our brave men and women. My heart breaks for Peyton and Erin. Peyton is a beautiful child and I don't think my mind will ever lose the image of the photgraph with Bobby in the background. My baby girl will be about 2 months when her daddy leaves so I can only imagine how it feels to look into her tiny face and know she will never know her father. I will be keeping Bobby's enitre family in my prayers.

Comments: This message is for Erin,

Erin,

My heart goes out to you. I lost my fiance to a car accident when I was 20. He was 24. I'm 34 now and still miss him and love him, even though I have my own family now.

At first the pain was unbearable. I remember thinking that I just wanted to go to heaven myself so that I could be with him. I had no reason to believe that the pain would go away. I had never been touched by such tragedy before and to me at the time, I thought I would suffer forever.

But, I got through it (you never get over it, just through it). Now, although I still shed a few tears now and then, I have a sense of peace and love that stay with me whenever I reach back and look for it. Instead of being sad when I think of him, I am able to smile and be thankful that I had his love when he was here.

I know I have a special guardian angel that walks with me through life that will be there through my pain and sorrows. I felt him there when I said my vows to my husband. I felt him there when I found out I was pregnant with our child. I felt him there when in despair, I thought my husband's Black Hawk got shot down in Iraq. I was crying and I felt him with me. I asked him to go to Iraq and keep my husband safe. I felt his presence leave. My husband did come home safely. He mentioned a tough time in the air when he felt that someone was guiding him and keeping him safe. I have no doubts who that was.

I don't know why our lives take such tragic turns. It is so unfair when you are young and in love. Just know that the pain does lessen considerably and that you will have his love with you for the rest of your life. Life goes on and love goes on. He will look down upon you and be happy for your joys as you fall in love again. He will see your daughter grow up and follow her though her life as well. He will be there. God bless you.

Comments: Dear Warns family,

David and I want you to know that we were with you in spirit on November 8th, when you gathered at St. Joseph's Cemetary. David and I were flying to New York that day and were not able to schedule flights so that we could attend. We thought of Bobby, Shane, Branden and Chad the entire day. We will never forget the sacrifice that they made on that day for our country. While in New York David and I went down to visit the site where the Twin Towers once stood and again we had our momement of silence for our amazing Marines. We have a senior and a junior in high school this year. Our senior recently told me that all he really wanted to do when he graduated was to be a Marine. I asked him why and without hesitation he said, "mom, I want do something honorable with my life and I can't think of anything more honorable than serving my country." Bobby and the other young Marines will be with my boys and our family forever and we will forever Honor your family and your son's amazing

sacrifice to our country.

Thinking of you always,

It has been one long year since his passing, yet seems like only yesterday that we heard the devastating news. I will always think of Bobby as a hero. May God bless you all.

Comments: Bobby, how you doing Brother? I can't believe that it has been a year already since you have past. It seems like yesterday when you pulled that gun on me. It freaked me out until you pulled the trigger and it was a lighter. You always were a prankster. I tried playing command and conquer the other day but it just wasn't the same without you, sort of like everyday. I miss you Brother, more than ever. Even though you are not here in person, you will always be here in spirit. Well I will talk to you soon Bro, you take it easy up there, and do me a favor and tell Branden, Shane, Ryan, Mark, and Ssgt. Hi for me.

Mike

P.S. I don't know if anyone has told you this lately, but your Daughter is beautiful!

Certainly, I am not telling you anything you do not already know, but he was a leader among leaders. During our time together in Iraq, he taught all of us so much, and for that I will be forever grateful.

If there was ever any doubt that his memory will live on, please put it to rest. We will NEVER forget him, what he did, and what he meant to each and every one of us.

Comments: Wow. I cant believe it has been a year already. My friend had meet him once. She met him at her cousins wedding. My thoughts go out to all of Bobby's family and friends.

I would have to say i know the feeling of having a loved one go off to war and not knowing if or when they are comming home. But the truth is they all come home some way.

My uncle is a Staff Sargent in the 101st Airborne Devision. He has gone to Iraq once and he was going to go again but he was ordered to stay back and train others.

On Bobby's one year anniversary i would like to say that i am very sorry for any one who knew Bobby. He is a very remarkable man to be only so brave as to risk his life to make ours better!

Comments: While at school today I witnessed something that will forever change my life. Brave veternan's from WWI,The Korean War, Vietnam, Operation Desert Storm, and Operation Iraqi Freedom came to speak with fellow students about thier experiences in the wars they have been through. When the brave veterans spoke every story they told reminded me of how brave and courageous each and every member of the United States Military is, espeically Bobby. Though today marks the one year anniversary of Bobby's death, I am sure he is watching down on all of us from Heaven and is proud to know that so many people were affected by his life and this beautiful tribute. Bobby will forever be a hero to me, as well as other fallen heroes from other wars. Bobby thank you for your sacrifice, it is people like you that make our country such a phenomenal country. Comments: Dear Briget and Bob,

I don't think you gave birth to a real baby. I think you gave birth to an angel. I think Bobby was sent to protect our family. Then he heard about the Marines where he could help others too. After he went through all of the training he learned that he had to go to war where he might get in an accident. But being the great angel he is he still went. Once he went to war he got in an accident that cost him his life but did you notice right after he pasted away Erin found out she was preagnent and the babies due date was on Bobby's birthday. I think that once Bobby went up to heaven God decided that Bobby's choice was right and decided to give Bobby another chance in life but in a different form named Payton.

They spoke so lovingly and emotionally about Bobby that I felt you ought to know how many people his life has touched.

I am a reader of military history and I have come to realize that the great events of history are decided by a few individuals who make a difference. If we succeed in making Iraq a country where the people decide their destiny and democracy is the rule, then who knows how much this will impact the entire region. It is amazing how many conflicts we have got into where we are protecting innocent muslims, I wish it could be emphasized how much these people appreciate what we are doing, and that the acts of a few bad people overshadow the good. Your son was a liberator, as much as any in WW II. He will always be remembered that way.

Comments: How my heart grieves for the family and friends of Cpl Warns. It was a good life cut short; sacrificed on the altar of freedom.

He perished in combat dedicated to the ideals of his country and to the loyalty of his fellow Marines. So great is that bond of brotherhood in the Corps that many Marines wounded in action find a way back to their front line units, because their feloow Marines need them. No doubt that Corporal Bobby Warns is a giant among those men.

I extend my deepest sympathies. No mere words can ever salve the pain in the hearts of his family and friends. Perhaps in their time of grief, God's plan may be revealed to them.

Respectfully,

Ron Ingram, Gunnery Sergeant

I was imagining you there and me running up to you when I saw you and then us just talking on and on about anything and everything. Then the bell rang and took me out of the thought, but as I was walking down the hall I relized I didnt have to imagine, you were right next to me and I could just start talking like in my day dream and you would never have to leave me. I thank him and his family for protecting my freedom, nobody thanked me when I returned, I will always remember this website as an appropriate tribute to our Heros... My son is about to begin Army rotory wing pilot training and I can't imagine what the Warns are going through - May God lift you up and hold you tight. This tribute was very moving, and brings us back to realize that war is ugly, unfair, and that freedom isn't free. God bless your family, and know that the Unite States is proud of Robert.

Comments: I type this message after viewing your son's tribute more than a dozen times. I'm not an individual given to emotion, nor am I one who finds it easy to express himself, but this video has moved me in a way I've never experienced and I feel the least I can do is to send my condolences.

Watching that tribute has made me prouder than I ever, EVER thought I could be, to be an American. It's sacrifices like those of your son that not only protect and defend this country, but remind us all of what it means and what it takes to live in the greatest nation on Earth. People like your son are the only reason this country stands proud, stands tall and stands honorably.

I can't even imagine the pain you endure and I realize my words are but words, but from what I've seen on the video, your son couldn't have spent his short time here with a better family. In such company, a better life couldn't have been spent.

I'm not a religious person, but if there is a place that good folks go to then I know your son is there, and that you'll all meet again, sometime.

My thoughts are with you, and all those who've lost loved ones in this war and in these times. My only hope is that every American realizes the sacrifices put forth by these individuals, and remembers their gift to us all in the future.

Best regards, and best wishes for the future. Most of all, thank you.

Comments: MR. AND MRS. WARNS.

I visit Bobby's grave about once a month to show respect and also to prepare myself for death in my own family. My grandpa died on Christmas, 2004, two months after Bobby's. Your sons trip to heaven prepared me for that. I have to remind myself that heaven is happy and painless. Bobby also reminds me that it is rewarding. I re-play the tribute over and over again. The tears don't ever end. I think that is the way GOD wants it. The Warns family has always been a pillar of strenght, I commend the three of you. You are a foundation for everyone. I think about the family often and am reminded of the importance of life and the value of family day after day. Thank you for opening my eyes.

My heart and everything along with it is with you. I pray for the Warns family everyday, and am comforted by the fact that my grandpa's heaven is guarded by the fallen Marine, Robert P. Warns II, and those yet to come.

God Bless, more than He already has.

Comments: Mr. & Mrs. Warns,

I have been to this site many times, and everytime I do, my eyes tear for my fellow brother. I am also a Veteran of the 2nd. Battalion 24th. Marines. I served with Wpns Co. 2/24 out of Waukegan IL from 1988 to 1996, and deployed in 1990 to Operation Desert Shield/Storm with the Battalion, so I feel that I have a somewhat special connection to Cpl. Warns, even though I never knew him. The video has served as an inspiration to me, and I am in the process of making my own video themed on what it means to be a veteran, to show in public schools and other events. I am very involved with my local VFW, and Marine Corps League Detachments. I have talked to Darrel from Creative Images, to add this video to my project. I am asking your permission also, as well as asking your permission to make a short background speech about Bobby, and then play this 5 1/2 minute tribute to the Middle & High Schools in my town on this years Veterans Day. My presentation would be conducted with pride and integrity, to show these young students what the cost of freedom is, and how it is paid. I have shown it to my 14 year old daughter, and 12 year old son, and it left both of them speechless. I will only do so with your permission.

As for my video project, once it is completed, I will make sure that you receive a copy of it.

I look forward to hearing back from you. God Bless, and Semper Fidelis.

After retiring, I became somewhat jaded & cynical about military service, and found myself trying to discourage young men & women who were contemplating enlistment. After watching your video/tribute, I can say that I am proud of my service and only wish there were more Bobby Warns on this planet. It is very rare in this life that you can experience something that is truly magical, extraordinary, special, profound, and your tribute to your son was just that!! God Bless you & your family and thank you for the ultimate sacrifice that Bobby gave!

Comments: Well, I think this might be my first comment... I have not had the stomach to do so-

For those of you who don't know....

I have known Bobby since I was born- I am currently in the process of a career change from corp. Retail to College coaching (football and track). In this moving/ packing process- I re-found Bobby's training video. I have shown it to all my friends/ neighbors in the area and am now trying to reach out and find any of the friends who may have been w/ Bob-O while he was out and about on duty.

On a different note-- I could not be more proud of Erin and Payton. You two inspire me to meet each day with excitment and positive thougts. I may be just a Cabana boy in my day-job, but I will be the best damn Towel boy that the golf course has ever seen!

To all my "extended family"- thanks for the good memories/ photos for Paytons' coming-out party and I can not wait to see you again soon.

Love Uncle Anj.

The beautiful little girl who will know her father only through pictures and words. What in the world could I possibly say.....

Thank you is a start. That seems so small and insignificant compared to the sacrifice. I'll teach my Little Man about Bobby and try to help him understand why he did what he did. I'll teach him the ideals and values that caused Bobby to believe that this was all worth everything that he had. I'll keep the faith and be a good Father and hope that I can raise up a boy who will become a man like Bobby. I owe Bobby that. I owe Bobby's family that.

Comments: What a beautiful and moving tribute to an American hero. It is apparent that Bobby was a hero long before he ever walked on foreign soil or put on his uniform...that kind of person has a hero's heart from a young age and serves his fellow citizens as an adult, knowing the risk but doing it anyhow.

The photos of Payton brought me to tears too...as a mom of two young daughters I remember well how those wee ones tuck right in to the crooks of arms.

At the stop light I had to get out - run up - knock on the window - and thank the young man for what he has done. That chance event led me to learn about your beloved Bobby. Dear Dirk,

I had to smile when I got your message. I know that it was Bobby's way of letting us know that he is still with us. We have been so blessed with the gift of this truly miraculous site. It has enabled so many wonderful people to reach out and touch us, often at the times we need it most. As you were sending your message yesterday, my husband Bob and I were at the funeral visitation of Staff Sergeant Chad Simon who was gravely injured in the same explosion that took Bobby.

Thanks so much for letting that young man know how much you appreciated his sacrifice and dedication. All of the service men and women are true heroes.
