I have learned that love and memories are with us always, and that these we should pass on to all we know: loved ones, family, friends, and all who will kindly receive. I personally have many "treasures of memories" of those I have loved and never forgotton. May this be of some comfort in your greatest hour of need. May GOD bless you always. Again, God Bless You & Thank You Bobby Warns. Sincerely, Bob, Dena & Abby Scholer Name: Sandra Hukarevic Location: Milwaukee, Wisconsin Comments: Dear Family Warns, My 20 year old granddaughter A1C Jennifer L Dibble is currently at Keesler AFB, Ms. I cry everyday for her. I pray every night for God to keep her and all our brave Military personel Safe and out of harms way. The loss of your Son Bobby has touched my heart in ways I can not explain. Each time I read of another young life taken, I don't think I will get over it. Jennifer tried to explain that each person knows what lies ahead of them, and they are prepared for whatever comes to them. It is harder for the families I believe, than for the young ones in the service. Please know that you and your family, and Payton will forever be in my heart. I will think of you when Jennifer steps off that plane next week to spend several days with her family. I will hug her extra hard and extra long and wish you could do the same to your Son. With heart felt sympathy from our Family to yours, Sincerely Mrs Sandra Hukarevic Name: Jan S.- marine mom Location: Neillsville WI Comments: As parents of a Marine that did 2 tours in Iraq, we fully appreciated seeing this tribute. I commend you on your willingness to share this gift with all of us so soon after Bobby's departure from this world into a much more peaceful one. Bobby touched my soul - never knew him, of course, but now I know him forever and truly look forward to the day I get to meet him in person. Carolyn From Pennsylvania Name: Stephanie Johnson Location: Lakewood, WA near Ft. Lewis Comments: What a beautiful tribute to a true American Hero. I am truly sorry for your loss and I wish you peace at this time of tragedy. Stephanie Name: Chuck Rantzow Location: Hustisford, Wisconsin Comments: First of all I would like to say that my thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends of Cpl Bobby Warns. I myself am a Marine. I spent almost 21 years as a Marine until I retired in 1994. I know what it is like to lose loved ones in combat. I lost several very close friends in Vietnam and in the first Gulf war. People ask me how can you say you lost a loved one if you're combat. It's hard to explain but I'll give it a try. When you're in a situation like that you depend and rely on everyone in your unit. You develope bonds that you can't explain. You are a family. You'll know everything about them. They will become your brother or sister or your son. I was fortunate to have served with many young Marines like Cpl Warns in the Gulf who lost their lives and it was like losing a son. You cry for them and for their family, but yet you laugh at the same time at some of the things they said and did. I know that I would have been honored to serve with him. At times I wish I could be there in Iraq with my fellow brothers and sisters, but I can't and have to accept it. I hope and pray for the safe return of all our HERO's (Army, Navy, Air Force, marines) and they all are Hero's. Again you have my deepest sympathy and as a fellow Marine I know that someday I will be able to stand proudly and with honor next to your son and my brother guarding the streets of Heaven. May God bless you and your family. SEMPER FI Charles O. It was a beautiful celebration of Bobby's life and that's what it should be. God bless all of the family and soon you will have a grandchild to love and cherish. I have never been in the military myself, but having grown up an Army Brat, I've come to understand the magnitude of war and the consequences that are sometimes faced. For all the men that have died in this unfortunate war, remember this. One day we will all meet again. They didn't die in vain. They died to protect the freedoms we all hold. Now you will have your own angel. If you ever need him, he'll be right there listening. And if you listen hard enough, he may be calling you too. Good luck and God Bless. He then proceeded to tell me that Bobby was a Marine and that he was a hero. Tyler then told me that when he grows up he too wants to be a hero like Bobby. I was immediately humbled and brought to tears. I cannot even begin to imagine what you are going through but I hope it is of some comfort to know that your family is in our prayers. He to received the purple heart and Matt and Bobby believed in what they were doing and knew the risk of fighting for our country. They paid the ultimate sacrifice for us and I thank you both Matt and Bobby for being brave enough to fight for us and for our freedom. May they rest in peace and never be forgotten. Name: Kay Location: Waukesha, Wi Comments: This was a beautiful tribute to your son. The most important thing is that everyone remembers Bobby, and that we never forget the sacrifices he made for all of us. Share your memories with his daughter, so that she may grow up knowing and loving her father. Our family has many similarities: My uncle, a US Marine, was a graduate of CMH, and the first alumni to be killed in action in Vietnam, he was 22. He was laid to rest, exactly as Bobby was, 37 years ago in St. Joseph's cemetary. Even though I was very young, our family kept my uncle's memory alive and we all grew up knowing and loving him. He was still very much a part of our lives, and that is something that lives on through my children as well. Nothing will ever fill the emptiness of your loss, but be so proud of your son and the sacrifices that he made for all of us. God Bless your family, and may He give you strength to get through this difficult time. Each time I visit my uncle, I will find your Bobby and give him my respects. We will never forget his sacrifice. Freedom isn't free and sometimes seems to cost too much but for those who know and realize the sacrifices made by Cpl. Warns and others like him we can say this. FREEDOM AT ANY COST IS STILL LIFE'S BIGGEST BARGAIN. If you truly think about it, you'll realize this. Thank you Cpl. Warns and all those like you. I NORMALLY LISTEN FOR ANY AND ALL PACKER NEWS, BUT AFTER HEARING THE STORY OF BOBBY WARNS I REFLECTED ON SOMETHING I REALLY NEVER PONDERED ABOUT WAR...EVERY DAY A SOLDIER WAKES UP IN THE MORNING AND STEPS INTO HIS UNIFORM HE PUTS HIS LIFE ON THE LINE EVEN THOUGH HE MAY LIVE TO COME HOME AFTER HIS/HER TOUR OF DUTY IS COMPLETED AND GO ON TO LIVE A NORMAL LIFE, IT COULD HAVE BEEN THEM THAT WERE SENT HOME EARLY...AND I THINK WE NEED TO PUT IT IN THAT PERSPECTIVE THAT EVERY SOLDIER IS A HERO, AND IF WE ALL, AS AMERICANS LOOK AT IT THE SAME WAY, THAT EVERY DAY A NEIGHBOR, SON, DAUGHTER, COUSIN, IS STRAPPING ON A UNIFORM FOR US TO BE ABLE TO STRAP ON A SEAT BELT, A CHIN-STRAP, A SNOWBOARD, ETC...EXCELLENT STORY THAT WE NEED TO PULL OUR KIDS ASIDE AND TRULY EXPLAIN WHAT IS GOING ON OVER IN IRAQ AND WHAT THESE SPECIAL SOLDIERS ARE GIVING UP (LIFE)FOR US TO HAVE JUST THE BASIC FREEDOMS. Name: Roberto Quiles Location: Milwaukee Comments: I just saw the promo on fox six.I'm not ashamed to say that I cried like a baby.I know how it is to lose a loved one.My lil bro Justin, died at 16 in 97 from a slug to the heart hangin around with his so called friends.I know when it's your time to go,it's your time. There were 5 people in the car,and my brother was the one who got hit.I'm not going to BS you and say it'll get easier. There will be places, smells, songs, etc.things that will remind you of Bobby.I can only say that its truly better to have loved and lost, cause I wouldn't trade those 16 years with my brother for anything. Now my bro has another Marine to hang with in Heaven. After seeing his (beautiful )memorial footage,if there were such a thing,I came upstairs to look at my 4 year old son Cameron sleeping,I gave him a kiss and felt so much sadness.I don't know how I would deal with losing him after taking care of and loving him for so many years, just to lose him in a war.I'll just pray that he turns out as good and as brave as your son Robert.I believe in Heaven, with that I believe that we'll all see each other when we pass,so don't fret, one day, hopefully not too soon, you'll see your Bobby again.I'm starting to ramble,so I'll leave you with this:There's no greater sacrifice a man can make that that of his own life.I'm laid off right now,but I'd still like to make a contribution to your family for Bobby's children.I don't like doing this online,so please email me with a bank I can send a check to.Thank-You for your son who gave his life for the greatest country in the world...the USA Name: Tom and Donna Peters Location: Racine, Wi. However, we can offer a heartfelt thank you for his service to our country. Cpl. Robert P. Warns II paid an incredible price serving this country... with his life. For that, he will be remembered as a hero. Not just some story book hero, but literally a hero that will be written in the annals of time. Thank you, and God bless you. Our prayer is simply this for you and your daughter. It's the Levitical Blessing, which is the highest blessing that can be spoken over anyone. It's in the Old Testament of the Bible. Numbers 6:24-26. I have spoken this blessing over my children EVERY single night since we knew my wife was pregnant - which is now 8 years running. Bless your daughter now with this prayer by laying your hands over her, and every single night of her life. She'll live long and tell MANY people of her daddy's sacrafice, and his heroism. I am sure remember the "diapers" and the "skinned knees" and probably the first trip to Kindergarten that probably all seem like yesterday. Well today, my boys expereince all these very same things because of the sacrifice Bob and many others like him have made. They can ride their bikes and celebrate Christmas and catch frogs because of the peace that we so quickly take for granted. As words could never sum up the loss and void you must feel, know that many of us are deeply touched an moved. May this season, while extremely difficult, be a celebration for the impact that Bob made in life and and death. I know I will hug my boys "extra tight" today in honor of your son. God bless you. It brought tears to my eyes to see the grief on your faces, particularly Bridget's as she said goodbye to her son at his casket. My son is 18 months old and I cannot imagine losing him, at any age. Just the thought causes an ache in my heart; I can only imagine how painful it is for you as a mother to have to lay your child to rest. I pray for you all that the pain will lessen with time and that the hole left by Bobby's death will be filled by the arrival of your granddaughter, Bobby's living legacy. God bless you for your loss of your son,and God bless Bobby. Jeff Major Dear Madam, I have been shown in the files of the War Department a statement of the Adjutant General of Massachusetts that you are the mother of five sons who have died gloriously on the field of battle. I feel how weak and fruitless must be any word of mine that should attempt to beguile you from the grief of a loss so overwhelming. But I cannot refrain from tendering to you the consolation that may be found in the thanks of the Republic they died to save. I pray that our Heavenly Father may assuage the anguish of your bereavement, and leave you only the cherished memory of the loved, lost, and the solemn pride that must be yours to have laid so costly a sacrifice upon the altar of freedom. I had not been aware of Bobby's service until I saw the tribute this morning on Channel 6. It touched me so that I felt the need to let you know that. From the comments that were made, Bobby was not just a good Marine, but a truly good and dedicated person. While viewing some of the pictures it made me think of my family and how lucky all of are to be able to be and do what we are doing because of MEN like Bobby. I'm proud of the fact that many of my uncles served our country , some during World War I and World War II. (Yes, I'm not a spring chicken, more like an ol' hen). Be assured Bobby is up in heaven trading stories with other fallen heroes. That is what they all are for giving of themselves for others. When somebody dies, a cloud turns into an angel, and flies up to tell God to put another flower on a pillow. A bird gives the message back to the world, and sings a silent prayer that makes the rain cry. People dis- appear, but they never really go away. The spirits up there put the sun to bed, wake up grass, and spin the earth in dizzy circles. Sometimes you can see them dancing in a cloud during the day-time, when they're supposed to be sleeping. They paint the rain- bows and also the sunsets and make waves splash and tug at the tide. They toss shooting stars and listen to wishes. And when they sing wind- songs, they whisper to us, don't miss me too much. The view is nice and I'm doing just fine. - Ashley Sincerely, Mary Ann Name: Chris Schrimpf Location: Menomonee Falls Wi Comments: Dear Warns Family: I have to tell you this story. I was flying home from a business trip in November. When we landed at Mitchell Field, the pilot came on and announced (words to this affect), "Ladies and Gentlemen, We have a very special passenger on board our plane this evening. Unfortunately, he is not seated in the main cabin. Tonight we are bringing home Corporal Warns. Please remain seated when we reach the gate so that we can allow the military escort to deplane and take Corporal Warns from the plane." The plane, which - as is normal upon any landing - was a bustle of movement and conversation. When the Captain finished his announcement, you could have heard a pin drop in the plane. Everyone sat down, some prayed, some cried and some like myself said a prayer and cried. I travel a lot with my job and I have never felt as proud to be on an airplane as I did that night. I felt like my heart left my body and went out to embrace Bobby...to say 'Thank You...to say 'It's OK - you're home now' and to say 'Be now at pease, we all love you for what you've done for us'. My most sincere sympathies for your loss, Chris Schrimpf Name: Jackie Blankenberg Location: Waupun, Wisconsin Comments: Dear Family of Bobby Warns, I, too, have a nephew currently stationed in Fallujah, Iraq. A person must have a heart of stone not to be touched by its message. Your son made the ultimate sacrifice, to give his life in the service of his country. I'm sure you are proud of everything he stood for and now we all can be proud as well. There are those who say this country is too self-centered and that we aren't willing to sacrifice as our parents did during WW II. They are wrong. Name: Elisavet Deluna&John Wenzel Location: Racine, Wisconsin Comments: sorry to hear what happened. I know it's hard to lose a loved one. Name: Tom Anderson Location: Milwaukee, Wisconsin Comments: WOW..... It's taken me about ten minutes to find the first word to begin typeing this Email and the first word I came up with was, WOW..... I was driving home from work tonight and was listening to 620 WTMJ. They were talking about your son Bobby Warns. I heard them play a part of the video and they gave the information as to how people could look it up on the internet to see it and hear it in it's entirety. They also talked about the comments people were sending to the family and how this video was touching people around the world not just locally. I had a 45 minute drive home, and was repeating the information over and over again to myself all the way home so I wouldnt forget it. Especially Bobby Warns name, so I could at least have some information to search the webb to find the Video. The second I got in the house before even taking my jacket off, I watched the video over and over several times. then I spent time reading all the comments people wrote. As I was reading all these comments many thoughts came to mind and i'd like to pass those thoughts on to you --- the parents, family, friends, neighbors, strangers, people all around the world. I remember hearing Bobbys name mentioned on the news and because I didnt know him, his name went in one ear and out the other. I thought that I'd like to attend his funeral to pay my respect to a young man that gave his all to protect our freedoms and our way of life that so many are taking for granted. We have an all volunteer military so I know that Bobby knew what he was willing to do and willing to give includeing his life, to help, be a part of a large group of men and women with those same wills to protect the freedoms and way of life for their parents, family, friends, neighbors, strangers, and people all around the world. By me going to his funeral I would also be paying respect to the others that gave their all, the wounded and military men and women that fought and those still fighting for our fredoms and way of life. I served 4 years in the Army Security Agency and a Vietnam Vet. We got no respect what so ever even as of today. I was 23 when I got out.Bobbys age. I remember it well. The day I got back to the States the Hippies had the post surrounded and I couldn't leave the base, Fort Dix, New Jersey. Oct. 1969. I was Married and I have 3 children, their all in their 30's. The draft was discontinued , so my children didn't have to go into the military. It's true that it has to |
