Name: John Location: Burlington, Wisconsin Comments: Our thoughts and prayers go out to you and your family. We were deeply moved by that beautiful tribute! May God Bless your family and all the men and women who serve this great country. Name: Sgt Daniel Mejia Location: Camp Courtney Okinawa Japan Comments: I took the liberty to read thru some of the comments other people left and I still can't find the right words to say. I wish I had the opportunity to met your son, but the Marine Corps is a world wide peace keeping organization and I'm glad to say that I and all of my brothers in arms will do what ever it takes to keep our America free. Bobby has done the ultimate sacrifice to keep our beautiful contry free and I can't imagine his little girl groing up asking for her dad, I say this because I'm father of two beautiful girls and I love them to death. I can't imagine them growing without me. May God be with us. Thank you Sgt Daniel Mejia Name: greg Dombrow Location: Hubertus Wi. Comments: Tears of pride and sadness overwhelm us. Our country is you and your wonderfull son. Thank you. Name: Nick Neuman Location: Oshkosh, Wisconsin Comments: First of all, let me give my most gracious respect and deepest sympathy for the loss of your loved one. I was very touched by Bobby's story and it reminded me of the loss I experienced to my best friend. Sgt. Kirk A. Straseskie died while attempting to save a downed helicopter crew by diving into a canal. He drowned in the process. When I got word that he had died, the first thing I did was dig up a letter he had given me about about two years previous and asked me to save for him just in case he would fall. I read this letter at his eulogy and although it is somewhat personalized, I thought it is something anyone can relate to: I suppose now is as good as time as any to go ahead and get this off my chest. With all that's happened in the past weeks the possibility of war seems high. Well, in the long run, or the big picture, what does that mean for me? Quite possibly Nick, I could die, plain and simple. I do not want to die. It saddens me to think of what I would miss if I were killed, but don't confuse that with fear. I am not afraid to die, and I'm prepared to in both my heart and soul. It is my belief that there are greater causes to live and fight for than one's self. That is why I serve. The main purpose of this letter is to give you some instructions to take care of for me, more of a favor actually. To all I've known and been friends with, I thank you for the experiences and lessons I've had while living my life. I have had friends who have been so important to me, that you've been with me wherever the Corps has taken me. The most miserable times have been eased by the memories of our times together. Nick, I ask you to pass these thoughts of mine on to any you think should hear them. To my family I have this: To my parents, dad and Barb, thank you for being there for me. Dad I know you've told me not to take chances, and not to push myself to hard, but for me that would not have been living. Life was something for me to grab by the throat and squeeze, demanding all I could get from it. When the time comes for me, it will find me ready, and standing tall. My life was not wasted, and I died for what I believe in. I ask you to take comfort in that. And do not mourn me, for now I wear my dress blues and stand guard at the gates of heaven. My brothers, you all have had my back in the biggest way as I grew up. There has been nothing that I would not have done for you at any time. As I served my country, I truly believed that I had your backs in the biggest way I could. I love you guys and hope for the best to come your way in the years to follow. Good health, and God willing, freedom to you and your families. This here, is the most important thing I have. This is for my nieces and nephews. Make sure they know and understand as they grow older, how much they meant to me. They were the biggest cause of my desire to serve our nation. I would have loved to be there and watch them grow. Devon, Nate, Katy, Maddy, Hannah, Sydney, and any others that might have come along since I wrote this, you all were so special to me. Just knowing that you are my family, that my actions have helped to secure your safety and freedom, is more reward to me than any dollar sign. The time I spent watching you grow has given me years of happiness, so many smiles to last three lifetimes. If there is only one thing you could do for me, do not let my nieces and nephews forget about me. As they grow older tell them, show them who I was in every way. My faults, my good points, strengths and weaknesses, the choices I had made, both good and bad. Let them know all about me, but above all, let them know I loved them, and I pray my sacrifice to them will be all they will ever have to pay for happiness in life. Nick, I have many more family members and friends to which I could write, but to keep it as simple as possible, tell them I was at peace with myself when I died, and I fought with everything I had. Take care of yourself buddy, and a happy life to you and Ray, my two best friends in life. GODSPEED AND SEMPER FIDELIS Kirk A. Name: Dan Location: Racine , WI Comments: I am greatly saddend by the lose of your loved one. Im a junior in high school and I am graduating early next year to join the marines with my friend. Truefully im scared, we all are, being scared isnt a sign of weakness. The same thing for sadness. It hurt, I know I lost my friend Daniel Watt which was in the marines earlier this year. I went to his memorial service and i havent cried that much since i was born. The funny thing is, My fellow friends dont join the military to be heros. It just turns out that way. He is in a better place now and is still watching our backs and I will continue to pray for your family and all the others with loved ones in harms way. Dan Name: Jeff Hermanson Location: United States Army Comments: “Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called sons of God." -Matthew 5:9 I cannot begin to express the emotion and sorrow I feel when I hear of fellow service members untimely deaths, and although I never had the privilege of meeting Bobby, I still feel his loss as a brother in arms. I would like to share the story of one of the women I met from Mosul, Iraq named Humalia Arkawi, to help show how much of a difference Marines like Bobby really made. Many people feel that the loss of a young American’s life could never be justified by anything happening in Iraq, and this may be true, but Humalia’s story is one that gives me personal motivation to serve and fight for American ideals. Humalia is 23 years old, and is one of the only surviving members of her family because of Saddam Hussein. When her brother turned 18, and did not want to join Saddam’s Baathist as all 18 year old males were required to do, Saddam’s police captured him, tortured him, and then chopped him into pieces and sent only his arm back to the family’s house with a strict order not to mourn their son’s death. When the father decided to disobey Saddam’s order by mourning his own son’s brutal death, the father was captured and severely tortured also, resulting in the loss of use of his arms and legs, as well as mental trauma. This was all before September the 11th. Saddam declared three days of Iraqi national holiday after September 11th, and publicly killed those who did not wish to partake in the celebrations for all to see in the town center. This was Saddam, and thanks to Marines like Bobby and other Americans fighting in the forces that guard our country and our way of life, these times are now over. When the Marines took control of Mosul, Humalia offered her services as a translator because she spoke English well, and immediately received death threats from insurgents. When her sister, who looked like her, was driving home to their house not long thereafter, insurgents attacked her car and killed her, firing 64 AK-47 bullets into her body. Upon learning that they killed the wrong person, they blew up Humalia’s house, with her mother inside. Luckily, Humalia escaped, wounded and shaken, to the base she worked at. She continues to work as a translator for US forces. Humalia lost her whole family because of Saddam’s oppression, and although it is only but a small offering of condolence, Bobby helped to make the dream of a free Iraq that so many Iraqis share a reality. Bobby lived the ideal of selfless service to its extreme, and paid the ultimate sacrifice for freedom, and I am forever grateful for his sacrifice. Even moreso, millions of Iraqis and others around the world alike will share the benefits of his sacrifice and heroism, and will be eternally thankful and indebted to his actions and the actions of so many others who met his same unfortunate fate. Please accept my story of Humalia as proof that Bobby did not die in vain, because despite what we may see on CNN, we are all fighting for a noble cause, and the entire world will benefit. Bobby, I sincerely thank you for your selfless service, sacrifice, and choice to serve among the most heroic men and women of our time. May you rest in peace as a son of God, and may God bless your soul. Name: Amy Glorioso May & family Location: Waukesha, WI Comments: Dear Warns Family, Our hearts break for you in this difficult time. You are in our prayers. We are forever grateful to Bobby for defending our freedom! What a hero! His courage and honor are inspirational! My daughter, a St. Mary's second grader, waved her flower as the funeral procession drove by on Bobby's funeral day. She came home from school that day telling me that she saw "Bobby's funeral parade" and that he had such a "big parade because he was a big hero"... When she found out that her aunt,(my sister), was a CMH classmate of his, she couldn't believe that "Amanda went to school with a hero!" Thank you, Bobby, for showing my daughter that real heroes do exist and live among us! May God bless all of you and bring baby Payton into this world delicately and safely. Name: Bob Location: St Francis, WI Comments: As a US Air Force veteran (1960-64) and retired Police Officer (1966-1989)I was truly touched by your stirring tribute to a fine son and Marine. My son served with the US Marines during Desert Storm and my grandaughter is currently serving with the US AirForce in Kuwait giving air support to our servicemen/woman in Iraq. Your decision, in your greatest hour of grief, to allow the rest of the world to see this tribute is to be commended. I lost my wife alittle over a year ago and know exactly what your family is going through, but be brave and trust in His words as it will be better as time passes. Name: jessica Location: ironridge, wi Comments: i am so sorry for your loss. may god be with you and the family. you are all in my prayers. Name: Monica Kipp Location: Waukesha Comments: Bridget, Bob and Katie, I remember the first time I met your family 16 years ago. Bobby came and saw the puppies and told me he wanted the green guy. I have never forgotten that little boy with the slightly crooked smile and the other visits that he made to those puppies and all of the time since then. He knew Debit wasn't the "green guy" but I think he loved her anyway. Of all of the children that have gotten puppies from me Bobby has always stood out in my memory. I have told the story many times over the years about the little boy who wanted the green guy. He was so kind and so gentle with puppies. The few times he met Emily he would always make a point to bend down and talk to her which was very unusual for a teenage boy. When I heard the news on the radio, all I could think of was that the world lost somebody that no matter when I saw him over the next 13 years, he alway radiated sunshine with that smile. I hope that he is smiling now as I write about the little boy with the crooked smile and the high school student that could light up a toddlers world just by taking the time to say hi. Name: Megan Stein Location: East Troy, Wisconsin Comments: Dear family and friends, After watching the news and seeing a documentery for Bob something pulled me to watch this video clip. You seem so loving and supporting of Roberts's life that you must be wonderful parents. He must have been a very lucky young man to have a family like yours. I am so sorry for your loss, and am greatful that you were willing to share that story with me. Megan Stein Name: *KR* Comments: To the family of Cpl. Robert Warns II: My deepest sympathy goes out to you during this time of grieving. I would also like to thank you for giving this country your son. The video was very touching and brought a sense of reality because my boyfriend is currently in the army. I have a great deal of respect for all of our service men fighting for our freedom. Below is a poem that was written for a friend of mine who passed away a few years ago, I hope it will bring a sense of comfort to you and your family as it has done for me. When Tomorrow Starts Without Me When tomorrow starts without me, and I'm not there to see If the sun should rise and find your eyes all filled with tears for me; I wish so much you wouldn't cry the way you did today While thinking of the many things we didn't get to say I know how much you love me, as much as I love you. And each time you think of me I know you'll miss me too. But when tomorrow starts without me, please try to understand, that an angel came and called my name and took me by the hand, and said my place was ready in heaven far above. And that I'd have to leave behind all those I dearly love. But as I turned to walk away, a tear fell from my eye, for all of my life, I'd always thought, I didn't want to die. I had so much to live for and so much yet to do, it seemed almost impossible that I was leaving you. I thought of all the yesterdays, the good ones and the bad, I thought of all the love we shared, and all the fun we had. If I could relive yesterday, I thought just for awhile, I'd say goodbye and kiss you and maybe see you smile. And when I thought of worldly things that I'd miss come tomorrow, I thought of you, and when I did, my heart was filled with sorrow. But when I walked through heaven's gate, I felt so much at home. When God looked down and smiled at me from His Golden Throne, He said, "This is eternity and all I've promised you." Today for life on what is past but here it starts anew. I promise no tomorrow but today will always last. And since each day's the same, there's no longing for the past. But you have been so faithful, so trusting, and so true. Though there were times you did some things you knew you shouldn't do. But you have been forgiven and now at last you're free. So won't you take my hand and share my life with me? So when tomorrow starts withought me, don't think we're far apart. Fore everytime you think of me, I'm right there in your heart. God Bless America and all of our troops Name: Dan Pierce Location: Racine Comments: I saw this on the news and I'm going into the marines so i wanted to see it and Im deeply sadden to hear that one of my fellow friends and guardians have fell. Having 2 sons of our own (2 and 6), we are hugging our boys quite a bit tighter since hearing about Bobby. I never met him but I feel like I knew him through you Bob...listening to you talk about him fo the last few years in our business efforts together. Being a new father of sons, I enjoyed gaining some insight from you on your expirence with your kids and you talked about Bobby a lot. Although we could never fathom your grief, it has greatly impact our family. I felt like I was doing something by putting out my flag. Bobby has made the greatest sacrifice for his country...and our family. Our prayers continue to be with you and hope to see you someday soon. (Im now called an elder citizen, but still have to show my ID at the local Pick & Save to buy wine or a six pack.) I served 2 tours of duty in Korea, one as an NCO and the 2nd as a Lt. out of Quantico, VA. The custom then was to give one dollar (about ten beers then) to the first salute you got. Usually your DI and it was, of course, this super marine you would always like at your side. I was proud to give him the dollar, but am even more proud to send a check for 100 times that amount back then for the benefit of Bobby,s child as a salute to Bobby for his bravery, heroism, and dedication to our greatest country ever only because of people like Bobby. Please know that I will always be endebted to Bobby and you and his fellow service men and women. For serving his country so proudly. For laying down his life to protect mine and my family's. For standing so tall for what is right. There is no greater honor. My profession is that of a police officer. I choose it so that I may, in my own very small way, stand watch and protect the good people. I am on bended knee, looking up at Bobby. Sorry that I never had the chance to meet him but so very privleged that he stood and protected me. I hope that it is of some small comfort to your hurting heart, knowing that we will never forget Bobby and your ultimate sacrifice. That we hold him and his deeds so preciously. I wish we could comfort you and hold you and take the pain from you. We will always owe you that. You will always be in our thoughts and prayers. Thank you, Chris

I wish there was more I could do for you and for every other grieving family out there, but there isn't. I can only tell you that in my silly little habitual prayers at night, I do pray for our soldiers... spiritual or not, I don't know what role God plays in all of this... and I hope you find your closure and resolution somehow throughout this. Very touching and personal. I spent time in the US Army as a member of The Old Guard and participated in many military funerals in Arlington Cemetary for the fallen heroes from Vietnam. Each ceremony was difficult and I remember seeing the sadness in the eyes of so many families. This video brought back many of those memories and the feelings of pride I had experienced while paying final tribute to America's best. Our hearts go out to your entire family. Bobby was too young and taken too soon. He will always live on in your hearts and minds, and no doubt very soon in his new child. This video put life back into perspective. I know it was not the way you may have wanted it, unfortunately, he was taken away and all you are left to cherish are his memories. As a war veteran and current police officer, I cannot think of a greater act of selfless love, than for Bobby to lay his life down for his fellow man. And for that, I salute him and thank him. I don't think I cried then because I knew I should be happy for him, being in heaven now. I know death is not supposed to be a bad thing but when a young person like Bobby dies in a war and I saw the video...I cried. How can anyone especially the people who knew him see this as a happy thing? I'm sorry. He volunteered to fight in Iraq, and him and his family sacrificed his life by dying for his country. Name: Vince Hennigan Location: Atlanta. GA. Comments: I'm terribly sorry for the loss of your loved one who died in all our names, and for all of us. I have a political opinion but this is not the time to express it. Your loss is great. Your hearts are broken. I will pray for his soul and in an Irish tradition, I will have a Mass said have him. I too have sons and if killed in war, I believe I would die. Here is a verse from a poem written by Patrick Pearse in the name of his mother just before he and his brother were executed by the British in the Irish civil war. The only verse I can remember is: 'Lord, thou art hard on mothers' 'We suffer in their coming and in their going' 'And thought I grudge them not' 'I weary' 'Weary of the long sorrow' 'And yet I have my joy' 'My son's were faithful, and they fought' May his soul rest in piece.

Although it was heart wrenching watching the video, I learned of who you were; the child, the man, the husband, the Marine in those short minutes. Although we may never know why your departure occurred so early in life and under such harsh circumstances, the love that exudes from your family is surely what will sustain them and all of us that experience you through this website. To Booby's family, May God richly bless each of you for your thoughtfulness in creating this tribute to Bobby. In spite of my not knowing any of you or Bobby, I have been transformed by this site to the point that I feel as though I have known Bobby all his life. The tears I have shed as I viewed the video are but a fraction of those you have shed, but please know they were shed in love, honor and respect for a fallen comrade. May God bless Bobby's unborn child and the lovely wife he was forced to leave behind. In Him, David
