Police Sergeant who has lost friends in Vietnam, My prayers go out to your family this holiday season. My door on my house, the back of my cars,my picture window in my home, are all a tribute decorated to honor our servicemen in harms way and to suggest "Please end this guickly and bring them home soon" Our department, Boy Scout troops, Street Rod club and Police Motorcycle clubs are all sending "good Will" packages to our men. May Bobby rest in peace and I will give him a relief when my time is up and I report for Guard Duty at my wife and his current duty station!

Comments: Thank you so much for sharing this video with all of us who were never fortunate enough to have met Bobby. I have forwarded the link to my friends and family.

It's so easy, albeit unintentional, for those of us who have never served to take people like Bobby for granted. We watch the news, join in debates, etc., but are rarely faced with the reality of having to associate names and faces with the statistics.

I thank you for the glimpse of reality you have provided to me and I pray that you are able to find peace this holiday season. God bless.

I as much as anyone realize the fight we are in and the sacrifices Marines etc...are making in the real Battle in this war. we all feel your loss and realize without Bobby and his friends the heat of battle would be here in our streets.

I will pray for your family and hope that his comrades are safe and there families do not have to feel the pain you are at this time.

God bless you all.

I'M FREE

Don’t grieve for me, for now I’m free
I’m following the path God laid for me.
I took His hand when I heard Him call
I turned my back and left it all.

I could not stay another day,
to laugh, to love, to walk or play
Tasks left undone must stay that way
I found that place, at the close of day.

If my parting has left a void
Then fill it with remembered joy.
A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss
Ah yes, these things I too, will miss.

Be not burdened with times of sorrow.
I wish you the sunshine of tomorrow.
My life’s been full, I savored much
Good friends, good times, a loved one’s touch.

Perhaps my time seemed all too brief
Don’t lengthen it now with undue grief.
Lift up your heart and share with me.
God wanted me now, He set me free

The video gave me a different outlook. I have to say that Military personnel are killed on a daily basis and it really doesn't hurt until it happens to someone you know. I wish you all the best and I am really sorry for your loss. God Speed and Semper Fidelis.

Comments: Dear Warns Family

Thank you for sharing the video, which gave us all a glimpse into the life of your son. You should be extremely proud of the life he led and his performance as a Marine.

As an Officer of Marines (Karen Hill's son-in-law from another posting), it truly humbles me each and every day to provide leadership and guidance to young Marines like Bobby. To see firsthand in Iraq how they served each and every day with honor, courage, and commitment.. was a unique experience that I will treasure forever. We all have individual talents and wear different ranks, but in the end we are all the same.... we're Marines. You should take comfort in knowing that your son is part of an organization that will never forget him.

Our family will keep you in our prayers and I'm extremely sorry for your loss.

Sincerely

Comments: There are no words that I can say to you, as parents, that will bring you comfort or ease your pain. My son is in the US Army 801 Medic Unit out of Ft. Sheridan. I fear for his life each day. When your grandchild is born, look for your son in his eyes, laughter, hair, smile and know that your son will be looking down on you always. That I believe in. Although this does not comfort your loss, and I do not know why God does this, please know that it was your son, like mine, that would have wanted to die for his country and beliefs than to sit at home and do nothing. You page honors him and you share him with the world. Be proud of that. I hope that I am never in the same position, but if I were, I would pray that I could put together something so beautiful to share with the world. I shall pass this on.

Thank you for the gift you share of knowing your son.

Comments: Mr. & Mrs. Warns,

As I shed tears for your son's sacrifice, it only takes me back to a different time and place where our fellow Marines spilled their blood for the sake of freedom and democracy in Beirut. Everytime one of our troops gets wounded or killed it only chips away at every old timer like myself, who would rather be there fighting side by side with our band of brothers.

My thoughts and prayers are with your family and may God continue to shine his ever lasting light on you all. You can rest assure that Bobby is standing tall with St. Peter on Post 1 (Pearly Gates) knowing that one day we will all be together with him in the Kingdom of God.

Comments: Thank you for inviting us to share with you your most achingly painful and poignant moments. You brought your son Bobby to life for all who have viewed the video. You gave us a glimpse of Bobby's spirit and legacy that will be carried on by his child, his wife, his mother and dad, his siblings, and all others who knew and loved him.

My son-in-law is a Major in the Marine Corps and just recently returned from his 2nd deployment to the Middle East. My heart is with the Marines and all our armed forces and allies serving there. Whenever I see a list of names of those who have died serving their country, I lift up a prayer for their families as I read their names.

Before today, Bobby Warns was a name, age, and rank from Waukesha, WI to me. Now my understanding of Bobby Warns is as a living, loving, playful spirit.

Last May while visiting my daughter, I met a dear friend of theirs, an active duty Marine, who was beginning his I & I duty in Madison, WI with the Marine Reserves. We heard from this friend periodically as this unit of Reserves trained at Camp Pendleton in preparation for their deployment. Our friend was proud of these Marines and their accomplishments. Bobby was a part of his unit.

My prayers are with you.

Sincerely,

Karen Hill

Comments: To the family of Bobby Warns - it is only unimaginable to me of the great loss you must feel. When I see the photos shown each week of those servicemen that we have lost, I feel a deep sadness and a loss even though I did not know them. When I think of the beautiful freedom we have in this wonderful country of ours, I wish I could thank them for what they have done. So now I am able to thank you for the gift of your son, given so that the rest of us can still enjoy FREEDOM - which when I was younger I took for granted, but now I know how much suffering it takes to attain, and retain, this freedom. I pray that the Holy Spirit will fill your hearts with a certain amount of peace and understanding - and when we think of Mary, our mother, mourning of the loss of her Son, then know that you are not alone and that Mary and all in Heaven understand what you are going through. Again, thank you for your sacrifice, and the sacrifice your son has made for all us.

Comments: I am a friend of Colleen Jamison. She told me about the loss of your son when it happened and I was very moved as I too was a combat Marine, though a long time ago, in a place called Viet Nam. Colleen told me about the web site this week end and said I could send an e-mail. I thought I knew what I was going to say....and then I watched the video.

I saw the wonderful family behind that wonderful Marine and now I really do not know what I could possibly say to ever give you back a fraction of what your family has given for mine.

I'm proud to have been a Marine and more proud to know that great looking son of yours wore the same uniform I did. If there is anything I can ever do to help, please let me know. Colleen and I will make a contribution to the trust but that is only monitary and I wish I could do more.

The last verse to the Hymn has always been my favorite and if I ever gaze on heaven's scenes, I'll be sure to look up Bobby. I,ve got to meet a kid with a smile like that. I'm sure he's been assigned guard duty at a very special corner. He's standing at parade rest right now with that great smile and beaming with pride and sense of duty accomplished. God bless Bobby and your family. Semper Fidelis.

Comments: In 2003, my battalion (3dBn 23d Marines) was activated and spent 6 months in Iraq. We were fortunate because no one was killed, although some were wounded.

I am now retired, after being a part of the Corps for 5 decades, and I can say this--the death of every American, but especially every Marine, has touched me to the depths of my soul.

There is nothing I can say which will replace the loss of Cpl Warns, and I don't expect it to. In fact, if my words alone were adequate solace, I would probably think less of you.

I will not cheapen this by talking about brave and noble causes, other than to say I believe the US is, in fact, doing the right and proper thing in Iraq, based on what I saw and heard when I was there. Cpl Warns died doing his job as any good Marine would and keeping faith with his fellow Marines, as has always been the case in the Corps. When we were there, we didn't look at it as anything more than a job, although we did feel we were making a difference. Our loyalties were to our fellow Marines, and I'm sure Cpl Warns was the same way. He kept the faith with his fellow Marines, and, that alone, if anything could be considered so, is noble.

I will close with an old cliche', which, I believe, is appropriate in this case: In 1985, President Ronald Reagan said, "Some people spend an entire lifetime wondering if they've made a difference to this world...the Marines don't have that problem."

Rest assured--Cpl. Bobby Warns didn't have that problem. May God Bless your family.

Your son is One Of The Few, The Proud, A Marine., you should be very proud of him for doing what he thought was right in his heart and to protect the ones he loves. It is not an easy decision to be any branch of service especially the Marines but he did it and made it through, and now he is facing another challenge ahead, he is protecting the gates of heaven till his family and loved ones arrive to be with him forever. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family, God Speed and Semper Fidelis.

Comments: May your loss remind us that freedom is not granted, nor is it entitled! The United States Marines sacrifice in so many ways when serving our Country that ordinary people who use these freedoms daily take them for granted. My sympathy and prayers are with you, may your heart heel in time.

God Bless… I’m remorseful for your ultimate sacrifice.

Our 23 year old son Nick recently returned home from Iraq for the second time and is now out of the Marines and attending college in San Diego. Although we are thankful and relieved that he returned safely we constantly think of those brave young men who made the ultimate sacrifice and those they left behind. Our thoughts and prayers are with you now and always.

Comments: God bless you and yours. I can't imagine the pain and grief that you all must be experiencing and I wish there was something that I could do to help diminish your anguish, words are all that I can offer. I can not hug your necks or shake your hands and offer support in person but I can tell you how proud I am of the son you had that was willing to put his life on the line defending our constitution and everything that it stands for.

I am saddened by the loss of the friend that I am sure was always there when you needed him most and I know that he will be deeply missed.

Our country was founded by great men and in this day and age sadly it has taken the lives of great men and women to ensure that our country enjoys the freedoms that it was based on. I wont attempt to explain the complexities of reasoning behind our actions in Iraq because that is beyond me, but I know that what we are doing over there cannot and will not be done in vain. The price of freedom has always been a high price to pay and that holds true more today than ever.

I wish I could say that the pain will eventually go away but that would be a lie. It does get easier with time, but the piece of our heart that loved ones take with them when they go is always thiers and the best we can do is to try and fill that special place with all of the good that was represented by our loved one.

God Bless,

Marcus P.Boldt

Comments: My mother just forwarded me the email featuring the funeral and I couldn't help but write to you. I cried. My husband, is a United States Naval Aviator based in Lemoore, California. First, I am so sorry for your loss. Secondly, I am so proud of your son and to be part of the military community. When I met my husband, he wanted to fly jets and I didn't know anything about the military lifestyle. Little did I know, I would meet the most amazing people and form lifetime friendships. Your son seemed so amazing and thought of things larger than himself. After September 11th, the world has seen true heros emerge. Thank you for the opportunity to view your video. Every American should see this video.

He was a hero and did not fall in vain. He and the others will, in the future, be regarded as the "next greatest generation."

my history teahcer told me to do an assignment for the weekend. i was to go online and watch this vidoe and write a paper about it. after watching the video for the 5th time i decided to write my paper but first by writing my comments about it first. i thought it was a very neat video and the way you edited it but more deeply it almost made me cry especially because it reminded me of my great grandfathers death about two years ago who served in the navy during world war II. i just wanted to say im sorry for your loss and thank you for letting your son serve our country and hope everything will turn out alright in the end.

Your son's loss is grevious, His death tragic.

Comments: My sincerest condolences to Bobby's family and friends. Not long ago a young Lance Corporal from my area was killed in action. During the funeral processional traffic was stopped on a major road through town as they went by. The streets were lined with men and woman, boys and girls, carring and waving American flags to show their support. Working at a local police department I exited my vehicle and stood at attention until the processional had passed to show my respects. The young girl next to me had the gall to ask me what was going on, as if she couldn't see the 100's of Marines in full dress uniform driving by.

The thing that angred me most was that your son put his life on the line as had so many others so that we may go about our "normal" lives and many don't even understand or care what is happening.

PLEASE know that there are those of out there who care and respect your son and all of those who have fallen in combat and their bravery for putting their lives on the line for us.

Again our deepest sympathy to your families and your son, a true, brave, American hero.

Rest in Peace Bobby....

Comments: I'd like to say thank you to Bobby and his fellow Marines for their service and sacrifice and thank you to the Warns family for supporting him as he defended us.

May Jesus himself comfort you the rest of your days as you live with the hole that Bobby has left behind. I hope you can take comfort in these words of encouragement from Apostle Paul:

1 Corinthians 15:1-4, 42-44, 51-58

Now, [dear Warns family], I want to remind you of the gospel I preached to you, which you received and on which you have taken your stand. By this gospel you are saved, if you hold firmly to the word I preached to you. Otherwise, you have believed in vain.

For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures...

So will it be with the resurrection of the dead. The body that is sown is perishable, it is raised imperishable; it is sown in dishonor, it is raised in glory; it is sown in weakness, it is raised in power; it is sown a natural body, it is raised a spiritual body...

Listen, I tell you a mystery: We will not all sleep, but we will all be changed–-in a flash, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, the dead will be raised imperishable, and we will be changed. For the perishable must clothe itself with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortality. When the perishable has been clothed with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortality, then the saying that is written will come true:

“Death has been swallowed up in victory.”

“Where, O death, is your victory? Where, O death, is your sting?”

The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.

Therefore, [Warns family], stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain.

In Christ,

Diane Hamilton

Comments: As a father myself, I can only imagine the loss you must feel as Bobby's parents.

But please take consolence in the fact that you have brought into this world an extraordinary young man, who had the convictions of a true patriot. He ultimately demonstrated that he was willing to place his personal beliefs, well before himself.

Not just a creedence and a moral obligation to protect and serve. But heartfelt beliefs that demand the words sacrifice, honor, and a commitment to achieve the right of personal freedoms, no matter how difficult the call.

I salute you, as you have done well in raising an exemplary young man and a fine United States Marine. You should be proud indeed.

Despite the sorrow of Bobby no longer being with us in body, he will forever be a part of us. As he is now one of the many threads that create the emblem for which we all owe our very existence...... The American Flag.

May someday we all find the peace, America's Bobby was so commited to helping all of us find.

My thoughts and prayers will remain with you forever. Know America will not forget your son, your life, your hero, for as long as Americans live, we shall forever honor this fallen warrior as a defendor of freedom for each of us. Know Bobby remains with you, deep within your hearts, embedded in the deepest sanctity of your minds and a hero always to America and her people. Know you shall one day be together again, where there shall be no war, no pain and no sadness, know his duty has not ceased with his passing for God has assigned him to yet another task but in a place where it is not yet your time to travel. Know Bobby remains in your loving arms still, you just cannot see him but if you try, you can feel his presence. Each day, look to the sun, smile at him, feel his warmth cast around you and know he is safe, know that his new task will not place him in danger but will allow him to shine down upon you each day. In you, this warrior will shine thru for as long as you live. His strength shall now become your strength, show him you will be alright until he takes you into his loving arms one day. God be with your entire family and know America mourns this hero with you...A special candle shall be lit for another hero tonight...

My son served in Iraq with the Military Police. We were very fortunate and blessed to have him return to us unharmed. He had a soldier in his unit that was also a fallen hero. I was able to attend his funeral. Bobby's we similar to Landis'. May you find peace in your heart that someday you will join your son in Heaven as he waits for you a the feet of our Savior Jesus Christ or Lord.

May God Bless You and your family.

I have served our nation in many places along side brave Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen, and Marines. No matter the task at hand the common bond has always been duty, honor, courage, and comrades. We all knew, and know today, that freedom is not free.

Comments: I wss touched by the film and could only think of the words of a great man after hearing of another parents loss during an American conflict.

"I feel how weak and fruitless must be any words of mine which should attempt to beguile you from the grief of a loss so overwhelming. But I cannot refrain from tendering to you the consolation that may be found in the thanks of the Republic they died to save. I pray that our heavenly Father may assuage the anguish of your bereavement, and leave you only the cherished memory of the loved and lost, and the solemn pride that must be yours to have laid so costly a sacrifice upon the altar of freedom."

Comments: My deepest sympathy and wishes of peace go out to the family of this fallen Marine. This young man certainly gave the greatest gift that an American can give. I know that I speak for all of my fellow former Marines when I say that we are proud of the tradition that is being upheld by the young men and women today. I don't regret one moment of the 8 months that I spent serving with Co C 1/2 in an attempt to keep stability and freedom alive in the Middle East. I'm sure that Bob is looking down now, crying with me and you, saying I didn't either. Now, he's pulled the best guard duty there is.

As my own 17-year-old son contemplates a decision of whether to go into the Air Force, he thinks he will basically be living inside of a video game--what fun, everyday a new set of adventures, never bored-- I do not think he really considers that blood runs. I am going to show him this video.

Name: Bruce J. Aiello

Comments: My deepest sympathy goes to the family and friends of Bobby. This video has put a deep impact in my heart as it dramatically brought a cherished loved one to full view. A more wonderful tribute could not have been made to honor a son/husband/father who has created the true meaning of Love within his short life.

The pain of his loss can never overshadow the brightness he brought into everyone's life. This will be the eternal legacy of a man who has left us too soon, so he can constantly watch over those who were in his heart at all times. Not only will he meet you with open arms and a firm and warm embrace in the next life, but he will guide you in your lives today and in the future so you can continue to be the inspiration in others' lives, just like you were in his life.

May the Love never end

And the memories never fade

From the respect which he taught

In each friendship that he made

Comments: We tend to go through our daily lives worrying about the "little things". Some of us pray daily for the troops in Iraq while others criticize the President and the war. I thank God for people like Bobby, people that take a stand for what they believe in and fight to the death in an effort to make survival possible for others. I thank you-the family-for sharing Bobby with us and showing us that our "little things" really are just that. War, life and death...THOSE are THE BIG THINGS!

Comments: Daddy,

I started out as a twinkle in your eye
Just few short months ago
Who knew I'd be the surprise
As you said your goodbyes
You were so excited
and oh so great with children
you'd have been the perfect dad
that a child could have ever had.
Then you gave your life for me
So I could live and be free.
Now I'll grow up knowing
What a special man you were
And will always be to me.
Someday day when I am older
I will look into the sky
And when I see the stars
I'll see the twinkle in your eyes
For I will hear all your stories
I'll have your videos and letters
And through your love for me
I will get to know you better.
I'll be so proud
That you are my marine father
And all that you stand for.
I can only hope
you'll be as proud of me
As you stand guard at the gates of heaven.
Until then.............
I'll love you
always and forever.

Your video has touched a nation of supportive fellow countrymen who stand behind you during this difficult time of mourning. Please remember that your loved one, CPL Robert Warns III is a hero and will always be remembered as that, an American Hero.

To the unborn child,

It is extremely difficult to reassure you as you live your life without one of the most important pieces. For nothing in this world is worth losing a parent and nothing can replace that. Please always remember that your Daddy is watching you and proud of you and your Mommy. He is always there for you, you just need to pray to him. God bless your family and you, the "Child of a hero". Comments: What is a Marine.

A Marine was once a civilian that was looking to be the best.

They did not choose to go into the other branches of service to take the easy way out.

They chose to be the best.

As other Marines know. YOu can travel the world and everyone knows what a Marine is.

There are no doubts.

The Loyalty, Honor, Character, Morals, Pride of Service to Country and to Fellow Marine.

Are like no other.

Today we may weep for the loss of another Marine. But to civilians he is gone.

But to me and others like me. They are not gone. They are etched in to our minds everytime we here of a fallen Marine.

Another one to watch over us.

Another one to keep watch for us.

Another one that we will meet when it is our time to shop out.

So today we weep. But rejoice in the fact... that he died doing what he chose to do. His love. To fight next to his fellow Marines. To take the next objective.

My heart goes to you and your family at this time. The sorrow you feel is normal for the loss of your loved one. But remeber this. e is asking as he looks down on your faces to remember with him the joy he brought to you. Remember the love that he shared with you. The pranks he played. The games he shared with you.

Most of all remember him in his uniform.

For he is a United States Marine.

I will see you when I see you

Comments: Hello Warns Family,

My deepest sympathy's go out to all of you.

I can only imagine how hard it must be to have recently lost your son. I haven't lost anyone close to me in the way that you have, but the grief must be unbearable at times, and I'm sorry you have to endure it. My cousin is a Marine and just came home from Falujah. Unfortunately, he has to go back, but it was wonderful to see him and how he turned into a strong, young man. The changes in him were unbelievable. I'm sure you saw them in your son right after boot camp.

I served in the Navy during Desert Shield/Storm. I was only 18 when I signed up in September of 1988, and I never thought that by the time I had turned 20, just two short years after signing up, I would be involved in a war. Because I am female, I was about 300 miles away from Iraq. However, being the only repair ship there at the time, we had constant threats of what happened to USS Cole.

Although there were times I may have been a little scared, I knew I had the support of my family and friends back home and it made it that much easier to take. I'm sure Bob knew how much you loved him, and I know he is in heaven looking down on all of you, still keeping you safe and waiting for his child to be born. And even though he cannot be there to raise him, he knows that you will all be there to teach that child to love and grow up with honor like it's daddy.

Please know that all of us are grateful for his service to our country in this crazy time, and the work he did will make a difference in the long run.

With much respect and love to all of you.
