Name: Curtis Morgan Location: Arlington, Massachusetts Comments: As a former Marine, father and grandfather, I can not express in words my feelings after having watched your video. I have passed it on to all in my address book. I have just stopped crying, not just for Robert, but for all current service people that are no longer physically with us and the ones that I knew, loved like brothers and are no longer physically with me. I share in honoring Robert with all my heart and soul. He and his family are now a part of my prayer routine specifically. HE IS A HERO OF THE FIRST ORDER!
Name: Terry & Carol Ireland Location: Chicago, Illinois Comments: Dear Warns Family, We heard about the video this morning on WGN Radio. Spike O'Dell of WGN said he downloaded it and it brought tears to his eyes. I started to download it myself and it took quite a long time but I thank God that I did. What a beautiful tribute to a very brave man. I know that nothing can ever replace what he put into your lives but he will never be gone. He will be in all your hearts for the rest of your lives. You can all be so very proud of him and the greatest sacrifice he made for us and our country. God Bless you all. When God takes something away from us it seems he always replaces it with something so special. That special gift is the baby. That baby will have so many of this traits that "Bobby" will live on in your lives. Again, God Bless you all. Terry & Carol Ireland Chicago, IL

Name: Joe Copley Location: Crystal Lake, Illinois Comments: I was and always will be military. There is a bond, an experience and a sense of pride that never leaves. I served in the Navy during the Viet Nam era. Now, I am 55 with grown children of my own. Each night as I fall asleep I say a quiet prayer thanking God for my health, my children and our safety. Tonight I will include your Bobby on my Thank You list to God. So many have fallen to keep this country safe. So many have given their lives so my children can sleep safe, wake unharmed and go about their daily activities. This site has added a personal and heartfelt sense of pride to what goes on each day and night in remote areas of the world far far away from our shores. Your Bobby serves as a reminder of how great this generation is and how proud we should be of each one of our children. I will hug mine a little stronger and hold on a little longer because Bobby made the sacrifice that allows me to do so. I will forever be grateful.

Name: Brenda Leive Location: Brownsburg, IN Comments: I'm sorry, but I couldn't watch the video -- it is just too heart wrenching. I'm sure you think me shallow, and for that I apologize. I have a son-in-law who is an Army major, and he, my daughter and grandchildren live in Germany, so I see on a daily basis the sacrifices military people and their families make. My heart goes out to you, and I know there is absolutely nothing I can say to you that will make you feel better, except that I believe God is still in control of this world, even though sometimes we can't see it, and sometimes it is certainly hard to believe it. I am in a military support group at our church, and we work very hard trying to show military personnel our love and support. I've been a Christian all my life and probably worked in hundreds of ministries, but I have never worked on anything that I have enjoyed more or that has brought more joy in seeing the results of our labors. We've been very busy this month trying to get goody boxes sent and recently stuffed and labeled over 2,000 Christmas cards to be sent by members of our congregation, and that's just a part of what we've done over the last 1 1/2 years. Again, I am truly sorry for your loss and please know that you will be in my thoughts and prayers. Brenda, Brownsburg, IN

Name: Mike Shelburne Location: New Albany, In Comments: As a former Marine Officer, I share your pain for when any Marine makes the supreme sacrifice, all Marines mourn. As difficult as it is there is no greater honor for a Marine than to lay down their life for their fellow Americans and those they are entrusted to protect. I know your son is happy in Heaven, his struggle is over and the Supreme Commander has said "Well done Marine". I would like to leave you with a quote from Teddy Roosevelt that I have framed on my desk that I take strength from daily, it is entitled The Credit Belongs. The credit belongs to those who are actually in the arena, who strive valiantly; who know the great enthusiasms, the great devotions, and spend themselves in a worthy cause; who at best , know the triumph of high achievement; and who, at worst, if they fail, fail while daring greatly, so that their place shall never be with those cold and timid souls who know neither victory or defeat. Your son knows victory. God bless your family and especially the unborn child.God bless The United States Marine Corps and The United States of America

Name: Dennis J Kurowski Location: Chicago, Il Comments: Dear Family of Bobby Warns II, I feel your pain and want to share your sorrow. My prayers will be for Bobby's soul and for your strength through this very trying time. I believe in what Bobby was there for, I believe in every American Service Man or Woman and in the courage they show in the face of danger. You gave your loved one for someone else's freedom. It sounds good but it actually isn't very comforting, it's actually heart breaking. In some God forsaken country, that has people that hate their own countrymen, your Bobby gave his life. I respect him, I love him, and I don't even know him, but that's what makes Americans, Americans! Bravery, love of country, love of man, love of God, but to give all this to a people that hate their own shadow, is unexplainable. God loved your Bobby so much, he took him for his own. May we see him in Heaven when the Lord calls us, but until then, I will never forget your Bobby.

Name: Ron Marcell Location: Timmonsville, SC Comments: Dearest Warns Family, I am so sorry for your loss. I believe that Life is Eternal, but I can only imagine how you must grieve. I honor the memory of your son, his service, his dedication to our country... It was a Marine who taught me to shoot a pistol. In my military career, I've taught dozens of people the principles I was taught by that Marine so long ago. In just such a way, small pieces of your son's essence, his leadership and guidance, will be passed down, Marine to Marine (and maybe even to an occasional Sailor), for all time. The Marine Corps values of Honor, Courage and Commitment were adopted by the United States Navy. Thank God for men like your son who stood for those values; who no doubt believed in them fully even as he fell. The Corps is forever strong because of men like him. I shall render him a hand salute in Heaven. Semper Fi, Marine. Chief Petty Officer Ron Marcell United States Navy

Name: Dan and Elly Derr Location: Auburn, California Comments: All though we are not related by blood, we are related in our pride in Bobby's bravery. He died that we may live in free country. Bobby also has helped to bring freedom to those in Iraq that haven't known what the word "freedom" means. Our prayer is that God may bless you and give you His peace and strength that passes all under- standing.

Name: David Nixon Location: Gallatin, TN Comments: To the family of Cpl Warns,II. Please know that you are a member of the finest group of people in the world. The family of Marines both and alive and not. We lost our son, Cpl Parick R Nixon , March 23, 2003 in Nasiryah. Pat felt as I suspect that your Marine felt, that he was in the right place at the right time for the right reason. As a Corporal of Marines, they both had responsibilities beyond their years, but I know that your Bob, like our Pat (Nick was his Marine nickname), took those responsibilities seriously. Your son is with the Marines guarding the gates of Heaven and will give a Semper Fi to all who go through. Semper FI David Nixon

Name: Heather A Johnson Location: Lexington Kentucky Comments: I was shown the video of Cpl. Warns II today from a coworker who is a former Marine. It moved both of us to tears. We are so blessed to have had a young man so willingly sacrifice his life so that freedom can belong to others. Sometimes we take for granted the freedoms we have, along with, those who made our freedoms possible. I would like to extend my gratitude and let you know that although I didn't know Cpl. Warns, I truly have a heartfelt sympathy for your loss. I was reminded of a quote from a friend when I saw Cpl. Warns tribute video : "The warrior's gift is to willingly storm hell, that heaven may remain unstained." ---R.V.A Marcell--- I'm so very sorry for your loss and am certain that heaven will forever remain unstained. Name: Deborah Thomasson Location: Houston, TX Comments: That was the most incredible tribute to Bobby Warns. Touching because it tells all of us Americans that one person, with such a rich life gave the ultimate price to protect this great land and her people. And it helps us all to remember those other very real soldiers who still defend her. I send my deepest sympathy and prayers dear family and friends of this warrior, son, brother, and friend. May you have peace in the knowledge that Bobby is in the perfect care of the Father. May God grant a special blessing to each of you.

Name: Michael Cantelon Location: Bartlett, IL Comments: Like so many others who have left kind words, I have never met your son ... but I did know him. To me, he was a brother; a kindred soul; a Marine. I know him, because he is the same as I am, and the same as my fellow Marines. Unique and special on his own, but one of many Marines in our brotherhood. Perhaps it is difficult to understand for all the members of your family who knew him so well and knwo that we could never appreciate him as you did; but, to members of our family, he was as much our brother to us as he was your brother, your son, your nephew, your cousin, or your best friend. We mourn him as you do, and we mourn him all the more because we never had the honor of knowing him as you knew him. Rejoice in the memory of his presence; many of us know only the loss. I remember reading his name when it appeared in the paper. Sometimes I'm grateful that I don't recognize any of the names; but I never forget that each Marine is my brother or sister, and that each of them has family and friends that they have left behind. My prayers are with you, just as they are with all the families of my fallen comrades. Semper Fidelis
Name: JR Location: NJ Comments: Although I never met your son, he was my brother and I mourn for him as I mourn for all of my fallen brothers. Temper your grief with the knowledge that he lived his life as he wanted and though he gave his life, it was so that others might live. "Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends." I can think of nothing greater for which I might be remembered. Celebrate his life. Semper Fi
Name: Dave Cork Location: Iowa Comments: I am a former Marine who served in the Persian Gulf in 1988 during the Iran-Iraq war, and during Desert Storm. I learned about this web site from an online community that I belong to, which consists of current and former Marines. Obviously, there is nothing I can say to ease the pain of your loss. As the father of two children, I cannot imagine anything worse than losing a child. I will, however, relay to you something that was said to me by a Marine who served in Vietnam... It's true what they say... once a Marine, always a Marine. But once you get out, you're a former Marine. While we grieve for our buddies who didn't make it back, they will never be former Marines. They will eternally be Marines. Again, I realize this is no consolation. This in no way reduces the pain of your loss, and I suspect these words ring extremely hollow right now. I hope that in time though, you will come to appreciate what those words mean. I can guarantee you that Bobby understands. As long as there is a Marine Corps, Bobby will be remembered and honored, as I had the privilege of remembering and honoring those who served before me. Semper Fidelis.

Name: Rene de Jongh Comments: Thank you sir for your courage and efforts.
Name: Capt Brian Manifor (USMC) Location: San Diego Comments: A friend sent me the website on your son. It is very moving, and although I did not know him, I feel as though I have. Perhaps it is because he is not unlike any other Marine from 1775 until now that has laid down his life for his country, and those he loved. It is the intangibles that drive a young man to enter the Corps to begin with. Your son looked like a good kid, and seems like only the good die young. I know that no words will ease your pain right now, but know that my kids will know that it was men like Bobby that allow them to ride their school bus without the fear of suicide bombers and intimidation. You will see him again someday, and to him it will only seem like moments ago that he was with you. Time on the other side passes differently than it does for us. Your son is a hero, and he did not die in vain. Semper Fidelis, Brian Manifor

Name: D A Thomas Location: Albany NY Comments: Erin and baby Warns- Erin, As a former Marine I feel your loss. I served proudly in the first Gulf war, and feel pain at the loss of every Marine. There are no words that will take away the pain of your loss, it is too fresh, too new, too raw. All I can offer are a few words that may help in the weeks to come, when the mere thought of Bobby does not twist your heart. When that day comes, remember you had Bobby. You had all of him, even if for a short time, he was yours. His laugh, the special looks you shared that were all yours, the way he smelled straight from the shower, these are things that will never leave you. Cherish them, as long as you have memories, you have Bobby. When your heart feels dark, remember the glow of Bobby's candle will light it forever. Baby Warns, You will grow up without ever meeting your daddy, but that does not mean he is not there. Your daddy wanted to meet you but he couldn't, no matter how much he wanted to. Your daddy was a hero. He gave his life so we would be safe. He stood up for his beliefs and protected us all. He will be watching you as you grow. When you take your first steps he will beam with pride. Look to him to guide your way as you struggle with your teen years and know that on your wedding day he will be with you. Ask your mom to tell you all of her stories of their lives together. Ask his friends what he was like and how you are like him. Look at pictures and yes, watch this tribute and read these comments so you will always know the effect your Daddy had on so many Americans. He was a Hero in every sense of the word, and he will always be with you. Semper Fidelis, Sgt. D A Thomas USMC (1986-1992)

As a former Marine, I found my eyes tearing up with pride and love for your fallen Marine. The video was a beautiful tribute to a man that served his country with honor. Name: Det. M. A. Williams, Location: San Antonio, Tx Comments: The military runs deep in my family. Even my mother was (IS) a Marine! Her brother, also a Marine, was nearly lost in Viet Nam. Still there is no way to convey my deepest sympathy for your loss. Although I never knew him, he is still a brother. A brother in the service to this fine country. I lost some friends myself during Desert Storm. After 12 years of service to the USAF, I left to become a policeman. I've attached a "Policemans Prayer" that has been read for far too many of my friends as well, but I think it is as close to words as I can possibly muster after watching that wonderful tribute. I took the liberty of changing the words to fit a Proud Marine. May God be with you and your family in this time of sorrow. Semper Fi Robert "The Final Inspection" The Marine stood and faced his God, Which must always come to pass. He hoped his shoes were shining. Just as brightly as his brass. "Step forward now, Marine. How shall I deal with you? Have you always turned the other cheek? To My church have you been true? "The Marine squared his shoulders and said, "No, Lord, I guess I ain't, Because those of us who carry badges can't always be a saint. I've had to work most Sundays, and at times my talk was rough, and sometimes I've been violent. Because the streets are awfully tough. But I never took a penny, That wasn't mine to keep.... Though I worked a lot of overtime, when the bills got to steep. And I never passed a cry for help, though at times I shook with fear. And sometimes, God forgive me, I've wept unmanly tears. I know I don't deserve a place among the people here. They never wanted me around, except to calm their fear. If you've a place for me here, Lord, it needn't be so grand. I never expected or had to much. But if you don't......I'll understand. "There was silence all around the throne where the saints had often trod. As the Marine waited quietly, for the Judgement of his God. "Step forward now, Marine. You've borne your burdens well. Come walk a beat on Heaven's streets. You've done your time in Hell." Sir, Ma'am, ladies and gentlemen Cpl Robert Warns was truly the embodiment of that love. As a recent former Marine and father of four, I too now cry as another "Brother" makes the ultimate sacrifice for the love of God, Country and Corps. I am also sharing a poem with you that helped my Mother and Family over the years. God Bless You and your Family God Bless America Semper Fi Lis Mullen God’s Lent Child “I’ll lend you for a little while A child of mine,” God said “for you to love the while he lives, And mourn for when he’s dead. It may be six or seven years Or forty two or three. But will you, till I call him back, Take care of him for me? He’ll bring his charms to gladden you And should his stay be brief You’ll have his lovely memories As a solace for your grief. I cannot promise he will stay, Since all from earth returns; But there are lessons taught below I want this child to learn. I’ve looked the whole world over In my search for teachers true And from the things that crowd life’s lane I have chosen you. Now will you give him all your love? Not think the labor vain? Nor hate me when I come to take This Lent Child back again?” “I fancied that I heard them say “Dear Lord, Thy will be done For all the joys Thy Child will bring The risk of grief we’ll run. We will shelter him with tenderness, We’ll love him while we may And for the happiness we’ve known Forever grateful stay. But should Thy angel call for him, Much sooner than we’ve planned, We’ll brave the bitter grief that comes And try to understand.” - Author Unknown

Name: Peter James Klaus Dillon Location: Virginia Beach, VA Comments: Dear Warns family. I recieved your link from a friend in the military. The video touched me to the core of my soul. There is little to say that probably hasn't been said to you. I extend my deepest sympathies for the loss of your son, but also my most sincere thanks to him and you for his selfless actions and service to our country. As a 26 year old, I feel very connected to the other men and women in my age bracket, serving. As a policy analyst, I realize the media would have us think that Bobby's actions were in vain. This is untrue. Me and my circle of friends and family cannot express the gratitude we feel towards Bobby and his fellow service men and women. They are loved and respected by the very people they have sacrificed for and fought for. We are not fighting for a utopian ideal, for are fighting for an absolute truth. The outcome of this war will have an profound impact on our children and their children. I look forward to meeting Bobby in heaven and laughing about how his video made a "tough guy" like me cry. I'll be praying for him and your family at mass, and please pray for me as I try to be accepted as a Navy Intel officer. God Bless.

I know you must be so proud of your son for serving his country in the most honorable way. My 18 year old son is in the deferred enrollment program with the Marines and is scheduled to to go boot camp in July after high school graduation. I worry about his safety in the future but know that he is doing what is in his heart, as your son Bobby did. My father served in the Army over 21 yrs and my father in law was a Navy man. Thanks for sharing this beautiful celebrating the life of your son.

Our men and women are so young that are giving their lives for this great country of ours. I thank you the family and especially Bobby for giving his life for freedom. Name: Brian Valentin Location: Long Island, NY Comments: I just want to offer my condolences to you and your family and my thanks to and for Cpl Warns. This nation is better for having been graced by him and his life. I am only 28, probably not much older than "Bobby" was. I am currently serving in the Air Force (in the Air National Guard). I often hear how the WWII generation was America's "Greatest Generation". When I hear or see things like the video showing Cpl Warns, I can't help believe then that he and the members serving in the United States Armed Forces are members of our next "Greatest Generation". Words cannot truly express the gratitude we, collectively as a Nation, owe to Bobby and to your family...so my tears upon watching the video will have to suffice. Sincerely, Brian Valentin, SrA, NYANG, USAF

I know these are tough times for all of you and want you to know that everyone is praying for you. I didn't know Bobby but my son did. Being a Marine Mom, I feel part of your pain and sorrow. If it is any comfort (albeit small) he died in serving this great country of ours - to liberate a people who have not know freedom for 35 years. What greater praise is there. What marvelous parents you are to have raised a child who decided to serve his country rather than go off to Wall Street to gain his fortune. God Bless you. Know that your son will be in our prayers.

Name: Ryan Steensma Location: Grand Rapids Michigan Comments: To Bob's unborn child, Your Dad made the ultimate sacrifice in the defense of your future. It will take you a great number of years to understand this. The best way to explain this to you is by example. 1. Your first word 2. Your first steps 3. Riding a bike 4. Playing with your friends 5. Getting your first "A" 6. Scoaring your first Goal 7. The trip to Disneyworld 8. High school 9. Going to College 10. Falling in Love 11. Getting a Job 12. Starting your own family All of these are freedoms you will be able to enjoy in your life, never take them for granted and always think of your Dad during those important times. Name: Mike and Nancy Russell Location: Columbia, Missouri Comments: Mike and I only knew Bobby for a few short years but we were charmed by him from our very first meeting. We will never forget his fun loving personality and that twinkle in his eye. At Sam & Brianne's wedding reception, he was so clever and fun. He enjoyed every minute of the event!! I know that he lived his short life to the fullest. We feel so lucky to have known this wonderful man. We are thankful that Bobby will be watching over Fionn, his precious Godchild and her sister, Neav. What a blessing that his own child will join them in celebrating Bobby's time on earth. They will hear "Bobby stories" all of their lives and will know how much everyone loved him. We are thinking of Bobby and all of you, his family, everyday. Thank you for this sacrifice to keep our nation free. We are truly grateful.

Name: Mark Wills Location: Atlanta, GA Comments: Dear Mr. & Mrs Warns I just had the honor of meeting your son through your video tribute. What a wonderful young man he must have been. I am a country music entertainer who is getting ready (for the second year in a row) to go over and preform for our United States Military. I will be traveling with the U.S. Army but we have always had the oppertunity to meet Marines in all the places that we go. I downloaded the video so I could play it for all of the guys that are going to entertain out troops. I feel it is important for them to not only see the faces that we will meet and preform for but the ones that we would have preformed for. I pray that God will bring peace to you and your family. God bless Bobby's wife and expected child. Bobby will be remembered on our tour. At every show, at every base. Whereever there are soldiers, Bobby will be seen. God Bless Mark Wills
Name: Richard Aubrey Comments: I attended our high school Christmas concert this evening, thinking about Bobby. I had wanted to leave a message, but had no words. At the end of the concert, the choir began singing the slow, beautiful, "Peace, Peace", and the audience joined in by singing back to them "Silent Night". Done together, it is immensely moving. Then I knew what I wanted to say. What we in the audience, the singers, and the composers of those ancient carols were reaching for, dimly, vaguely, blindly, hesitantly, Bobby knows. He knows fully and gloriously. He's meeting his brothers who have gone before in service. He knows what we do not but must have faith that we will. I am reminded, when I see an American fighting man or woman, of Isiah 6:8 "Then I heard the Lord say, 'Whom shall I send? Who will go for us?' 'And I answered, here am I. I will go. Send me." My brother was killed overseas long ago. I discovered that the memories which are painful eventually become places of warmth and comfort. I pray you will find the same. Richard A. Aubrey, Jr. U. S. Army Infantry

Name: Valorie Lephart Location: Mission Viejo, CA Comments: We are a Marine family. I served eleven years and my husband served twenty-four. When I watched your moving tribute, time suddenly faded back to the l960's when I was on recruiting duty in Pittsburgh consoling many families who had lost their very young Marines. Looking back I am ashamed that I could even feel capable of consoling these families. I was too young myself to really know their loss. Now I'm in my sixties and a mother of two and my heart aches for all of you. Please know a nation thanks you for your great sacrifice. May you find solace knowing this man is a hero.

I pray that it will be multiplied a thousand fold. And I pray by God's mercy that our country will grasp the incredible sacrifice that young people like Bobby risk and sometimes pay with their lives for the cause of freedom. May God's grace be mightily upon your family. Sincerely, Richard Mattson, and family

And indeed it is, for your loss is also the loss of a grateful nation. I know that you loved him, because you have poured out your heart for the world to see.
